500th review special 3/3🥳🥳🥳
Albums I need to listen to to finish the AOTY top 100 - #17
So I did not plan on this being my 500th review at all but this was an album I was looking forward to a ton in the aoty top 100 series and it just so happened to line up with my 500th review. So I will not be doing Nude as I originally planned because this album is amazing. This is some of the most beautiful folk music I have ever heard. Her vocals reminded me a ton of Bjorks. Bjork has some of my favorite vocals in music so I absolutely mean that as a compliment. Her vocals mesh perfectly with the almost medieval sounding instrumentals. This album sounds strait out of the Renaissance in the best way possible. It’s incredibly fun while also getting super emotional and it balances those two moods incredibly well. I also loved the lyrics and while I wasn’t quite able to piece together the themes or story of the album, I thought that they were incredibly well written. I think the main thing that supersets her from sounding exactly like bjork asides from the different genre is that she is a lot less repetitive with her vocals. All the lyrics kinda sound like random thoughts to me if that makes sense. I saw someone describe it as sounding almost like a stream of consciousness and I agree with that completely. They are incredibly abstract yet incredibly vivid and full of detail. It’s very cool how she was able to strike the balance so perfectly. I also don’t think there is a single dull moment in the album. It’s very consistent throughout its 50 minute run time. I think my favorite song was either Emily or Only Skin although it is very hard to pick as every song is absolutely perfect. This was one of the albums that I was easily looking forward to the most and I absolutely think that it met those expectations. This is an amazing album.
Also 500 reviews is kinda crazy I feel like I just started lmao. Cheers to 1000.
