April Album Swap #24

THIS IS SO COOL WTF

So I just recently relistened to BTTIGTP and loved it so I had some pretty high expectations for this when I saw it in the album swap. Not only did it meet expectations, it also really surprised me. This is very very different from BTTIGTP. It has a wide variety of sounds from powerful hardcore hip hop bangers, to dark industrail tracks, to gorgeous jazz rap pieces. That last one in particular really really hit me hard. I think Keep on Slippin and Look Mama I Did It are the most beautiful songs on this album and absolutely my favorites. Look Mama I Did It especially really does just feel like a college trilogy Kanye track. Something like Family Business or Hey Mama, the later of which is actually interpolated on it. The outro is also just such a beautiful way to end the album. While I do think the second half does struggle a bit in consistency in comparison to the first half I am still super impressed with this mixtape and I’m super excited to hear some of their other albums and what they will do in the future.
