LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Master

For an official debut, this is really clean. And it's even weirder because G's work became more lo-fi and destroyed after this project. But Rules is a wonderful indie rock project that focuses more on vocals than its sound. The songs are short and sweet and coherent and at times funny, like on songs like Sandy. The instrumentals are mainly guitar based but sometimes expand in weird ways like on the tracks Rules and Candy but the best playing on the entire album is the song Wicked Boy- as its so fucking eerie and weird.

Overall, Rules is the most normal-sounding Alex G project but it's a beautiful album nonetheless.
