I honestly have no idea how this album found its way into my rotation. But days later, I’ve been listening to it almost religiously. It feels like it showed up at exactly the right time, in exactly the right place. I swear, it was like it was meant to be there.
There’s something deeply comforting about it. The exact reason? It doesn’t really matter. After sitting with it, re-listening and re-reading through the lyrics, I’ve found myself relating more and more. I guess ... read more
I was today years old when I discovered that club music and industrial have great chemistry.
The record starts with "Sevastopol", a terrible opener. It's just noise that can make you desist instantly of giving a chance to dig this. Also, is arguably the most weak track already.
Fortunately, from "Magazine" one of the lead singles that improves things drastically, an electronic banger with many traces of punk and resistance culture. Of which, is a central part of the ... read more
Poppy's seventh album finds her settling into a comfortable terrain that gives us a perfectly competent record. However, its a safe venture if compared with Negative Spaces.
The album opens with "Bruised Sky" which sets the tone pretty quickly with no-nonsense metalcore, no questions asked. Also, it was the first single I heard from the roll and it stuck with me, probably the best track here. The other singles "Unravel" and "Guardian" are honestly two of the ... read more
If this album was a person it would be a runner limping their way across the finishing line. Don't get me wrong. But man, the rest of this album just feels... tired. And no offense Dave, I respect the hell out of him for recovering ... read more
Rihanna Deep Discog Review #2
Rihanna's sophomore effort, A Girl Like Me, arrives with a lot of promise in its opening stretch. The album kicks off with "SOS," a brilliant pop record that samples Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" to create something genuinely fresh and addictive. It's the kind of song that announces Rihanna as a force to be reckoned with. Great start.
"Kisses Don't Lie" blows out of the water most of the reggae filler on her past ... read more
This mixtape slaps. It's got that trappy vibe down perfectly with that manic ass hyperpop energy too? It had to be a hit and it is.
From start to finish, it doesn't let up. Slayr nails the whole thing, not a single wack line or an unplaced beat. My favorite part: the 808s doing wonders. Lowkey elevating the quality from the shadows.
The transtions? Excellent, keep the sound tight and cohesive. "Holding" might be the one of best written rage songs ever, shit leaves you ... read more
