The former Loona member tunnels deeper into a world of glitchy electronic-pop on an intriguing and infectious EP.
Yves is committed to reinvention, and Soft Error — her third EP in 14 months — proves that she’s able to balance upbeat and gritty pop with a softer side, more iconoclastic and diverse than what she and her peers in the K-Pop world are used to.
Is it just me, or is Yves possibly the best K-Pop solo artist… EVER?. I’m not using that lightly, and I genuinely think she is going to start breaking through the mainstream with this EP. Sucks it will probably just be for the PinkPantheress collab but whatever, any attention brought to my GOAT is a win for me.

when I tell you I started FROTHING when I read PinkPantheress AND Rebecca Black would be on the same track…

a lot of fun. Yves really knows how to make a fantastic melody. all of her hooks are so insanely catchy and her electronic sound and production gives it some very necessary spunk that makes everything feel much more alive and fresh. i would love to see a full length album with a more fleshed out concept but this is a really cool EP. i hope this expands out of the kpop sphere because this is some really interesting stuff.
also pinkpantheress feature sampling rebecca black is so fierce.
In “Soft Error” it is very clear that Yves is only going to get better, specifically in the second half where she seems to experiment with her style and take a little bit more risks (still pretty safe-sounding but not generic like the previous EP) this record still has some misses but it is mostly good and overall a pretty decent evolution in Yves’s career.
