Revisited this album for the first time in a while.
I can now appreciate how ahead of its time the riffs are and the influence they had on the scene going forward.
There is some sameyness between songs, but with lyricism this strong it doesn't bother me.
This is a once in a lifetime kind of album, there will never be another like it. Still holds up today. Masterpiece.
Energetic and addictive, love every track. Unique song structures and catchy hooks left and right keep you on your toes, this is exactly my kind of thing. Love how the 2 vocalists play off of each other.
Favorite track is Gallows Humor. Lyrics really hit with that one. Same with Garamond, which got me interested in the band.
Never too close. Never too late. There's always time.
I love this story. I love the transitions. I love the lyrical threads that tie the whole thing together. I love this.
Lots of energy, lots of genre changeups, lots of fun. French band with a crazy talented vocalist Flo who can bring hardcore and deathcore vocals at insane speeds, he's always looking for new ways to deliver vocals. The guitar tone in this album takes a bit to get used to, it's more treble rather than big and bassey but once you settle into it you realize it doesn't compromise the massive sound and leaves plenty of room for details to shine.

This albums sound is pretty straightforward, but easy to get into a flow. Just gotta feel them grooves and breakdowns. There's interview clips of Country artist Hank Williams Jr woven through the album transitions. He talks about the expectations of living up to his father and how that messed him up. Really adds a lot the albums theme of not being what people want and expect you to be. Those themes blended with the beat down style really make this album hit hard for me. Overstays it's ... read more
This is vocal driven post hardcore to perfection. The first 3 tracks have been on repeat for me incessantly these guys know exactly how to write an addictive chorus and give me the chills and the feels. The front of the album is lacking in variety but the choruses will surely carry you through to the back half where they experiment with some more styles. The pacing is a little clunky overall but I'm very impressed, this is an album I revisit frequently
One of those albums that describes feelings and thoughts you find so deeply personal and spot on you can hardly believe they came from someone else's mind. A pop punk album written by a community/individual stuck in the darkest cycles of depression, poverty, and drug abuse. It took me a few listens for it to really sink in on an emotional level, but I think this kind of writing can only come from someone who cares deeply for those the world sees as broken. It's painful, it's ... read more
These guys are very good at coming up with melodies. Singer is crazy talented with a versatile and unique voice. But some of the songs in this album just don't hit, they come off as rather annoying with repetitive hokey hooks. Which is a shame because some songs will have an amazing setup but a poor chorus that doesn't fit for me. It creates for too many skips and half good songs for me to really enjoy this album as a whole. That being said, there are a lot of breathtakingly gorgeous ... read more
This album is gorgeously painful. The singer has a reassuring, gentle quality that pulls me in and just decimated me with emotion. The theme of the album are very focused, portraying the story of a boy who had lost his way in the world. It cuts deep, brings you to low lows and unreachable highs. It's made me cry on several occasions. This is one of the most relatable albums I've ever heard.
This is a fun project. It sounds like these guys are figuring out how to make music and experimenting what whatever sounds good to them, it's really got a charm to it. Obviously their sound gets much more polished and focused from this point forward, but I enjoy sitting in this moment of their career where anything goes. This is a really good showcase of early 2010's metalcore where integrating electronic elements was a fun and exciting thing and there were no rules.

Threw on this album out of curiosity of where Dayseeker started. Here are some highlights:
Incinerate is a genuinely solid metalcore song, has some more memorable moments compared to the rest of the front half of the album which blend together.
Dead Man and Resurrect are a very good 2 part act. The melodies on Resurrect, while kind of muffled, are really special and I found myself wanting to go back.
The Home we Built is another highlight, a glimpse into the more vocal and melodic driven songs ... read more
