Tridecoder

Germany's Lali Puna's debut, 'Tridecoder' reminds me much too much of Stereolab. And, while I really enjoy Synth-pop, I'm not too enamored with either Stereolab or Lali Puna. There appears to be much love for Valerie Trebeljahr whom I find, frankly, underwhelming. So, for those drawn to the banal... This one's for you. For the rest of us... This debut is lackluster. The follow-up LP's sound the same... Which begs the question: Why has this band been given such a lucrative record deal? My suggestion: Borrow Stereolab and Lali Puna... Play each simultaneously and then know why your immediate impulse is to run screaming madly from the room. Unless, of course, you're flying a plane or driving the Autobahn. Cheers!
