This album is the greatest experimental hip-hop album of all time. Peggy's production shows off more then it ever has, along with his penmanship.
It is obvious that Peggy was going a different route with this album. The metal influence is not one of my favorite Peggy aesthetics, it still shows off in songs like SIN MIEDO and JIHAD JOE. While not being his best, this is his most versatile album to date, as the album becomes more vulnerable towards the end, creating an enjoyable listening experience from start to finish.
An experimental masterpiece, with songs that have stayed on rotation for years. It is not very often you see an experimental, industrial sounding album with this much traction.
2014 Forest Hills Drive is J Cole's most mature and most consistent album. If The Fall Off can come even close to this level, it would be one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums of all time.
Redveil is with no doubt one of this generations most promising upcoming rappers. Sankofa creates a more lush, experimental soundscape compared to his past albums, which is much appreciated. Sankofa is his best album yet, and while not perfect, shows us the potential he really has.
A great return to form by Rocky, who took an 8 year hiatus before dropping this album. While it has its skips and flaws, the album is littered with the same creativity we saw on testing, but at a much better and polished level.
"My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" perfectly represents ambition. Ye did not hold back, channeling all of his lyrical and musical talent into creating one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums of all time. While Ye's recent comments and actions have been of great question and critique, this album still holds up despite being 15 years old.
"Minecraft - Volume Alpha" by C418 is a simple, comforting instrumental album. While many would say its acclaim comes from nostalgia, this album manufactures nostalgia on its own. If Minecraft had any other soundtrack, by any other producer with any other tracks, it would not have been as amazing as this album. Nostalgia is such a beautiful feeling, and this album perfectly encompasses every attribute that the simpler times truly represented.
When GNX came out, it had mixed reviews, mostly due to not being a traditional Kendrick album, with an overarching theme and solidified concept. Yet, this album has aged better than most modern rap albums. GNX is a minimalistic, nostalgic, and at times deep album, contrasting most albums Kendrick has dropped in the past. However, this album finds beauty in its minimalism, and delivers some of Kendricks best music he has ever dropped.
For All The Dogs serves as the album that reminds us that Drake has changed, mostly for the worse. FATD is a boring album with songs clearly made to top charts, songs made clearly for nostalgia purposes, and songs that just don't sound good. While there are some highpoints, like 8 AM in Charlotte, Tried our Best, and Amen (Mostly due to the Teezo Feature), the album falls short of actually giving us any noteworthy material.
The greatest Hip-Hop album of all time, in message, production, lyrics, storytelling, and delivery.
JPEGMAFIA's All My Heroes Are Cornballs is a cluttered mess of dreamy production, corny lyrics, and experimental aesthetics, yet they all contribute to make for an amazing listening experience. JPEGMAFIA creates a lush collection of instrumentals, accompanied by lyrics that could not compliment his style more. While not a perfect album in any sense, AMHAC is one of the greatest experimental Hip-Hop albums of all time, and solidifies Peggy as one of the greats in his field.
