This is one of my favorite albums of all time and I honestly don't know why as I feel like there are some skips in this album but the production in this album i feel is so unique and having both Jaylib and Madlib both producing and rapping on this album and not Madlib being in his Quasimodo character all the time was refreshing to see for me. Madlib as a lyricist is raw but has good rhyme schemes and verses, especially on Nowadays and Starz and I think Dilla shines in the production of ... read more
This is DOOMs best album and while it's his first album there's not any skips on this album for as I really liked how he interacted with his guests on this album, especially on ? with Kurious and Who Do You think I Am with the Monster Island Czars. I do think at multiple times he does get outrapped on this album, especially on The Finest by Tommy Gunn I thought he had some better verses than DOOM. Tick Tick is one of the songs I disliked lyrically as I didn't think Grimm had an ... read more
I enjoyed this album more than I thought I would, only being familiar with Outstanding and Early In The Morning but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the album throughout. I thought Stay With Me was a really good song and I'm surprised it wasn't as popular as I thought it should've been, its definitely a gem in the album and you feel the funk through this album. Charlie Wilson also is able to show his versatility in this album going with a more soulful vibe on the ... read more
A live album that was very hard to distinguish from his studio work, his work with the crowd was something to be admired. His covers of John Lennons Jealous Guy and James Taylor Youve got a friend were a soulful touch, adding seasoning to bland songs that I honestly didn't like that much from his white counterparts. I thought this was one of those live albums that listening to it, you feel like you're there and he can see you singing the songs with him, this album was so beautiful man ... read more
Ive relistened to this album because I feel like I was kind of unfair towards it, I always like to see the bright side in an album and I actually enjoyed songs such as Love Has Come Of Age, This is It, and Junkanoo Holiday, but beyond that I thought the album was just ok. I made it out to be like a bad album, but it really isn't, I've definitely heard worst and from his other albums I've listened too, this is probably his best, and it's one of the quote on quote bad albums ... read more
A funk album that was a great listen throughout. There weren't any tracks that I disliked so that's why it receives such a positive grade. I do like both Mary Jane and You and I on this album as they were the most commercially acclaimed songs on the album but I actually think that Dream Maker is his best song on the album here, as it a great ballad about his lover. James songwriting ability and being able to create a slow song that fit the theme of this album was a great addition and ... read more
