Day 23/365
This was a really good album. Redman showed a good amount of versatility and the samples that he used were on point too. I’m a big fan of Parliament do hearing their sample of their on Da Funk was really refreshing. I really enjoyed Time For Sumacktion and Tonight’s the Night as I felt that’s what showcased his skills the best.
Day 20/365
The beginning of the album was decent, but there was repetitive production and ok lyrics. The last three tracks were extremely weak, but this album was made over 40 years ago, so I wasn't expecting the most sophisticated production or lyrics. For what it is, it's solid for its time, but it doesn't really hold up now.
Day 19/365
Who would’ve thought Freddie Gibbs would cook on Madlib production? Just about everyone.
I think something is wrong with me because I kind of liked the diss actually
Day 18/365
A gritty album, where Boldy delivers emotional verses over interesting beats. It's not really for me because I can't relate to the material Boldy speaks on in his album, BUT I will acknowledge that this is great material from Boldy and Toles. You can tell Boldy went into some of his personal demons in this album.
Day 16/365
Consistent production and performance by Ren here. I felt like there could’ve been more diversification however, as most of the tracks felt the same with different verses but the production fit well with his style.
Day 16/365
Decent samples but limited hip hop. I liked Down the Line, Sometimes I Rhyme Slow, and Hip Hop Junkies but that’s about it. All the other other tracks were forgettable.
Day 15/365
Jockbox is the only good song here, and the beats on Weightless and Ill were decent, but everything else about this album simply wasn't enjoyable. There were no MCs that stood out to me, and the beats were mid at best. I didn't enjoy this album at all.
Day 15/365
Not bad, but the production doesn’t vary much. I did like the This Side of the album a lot better than the That Side of the album. You could hear most of what Mantronix on the Mega mix, not listen to the rest and not miss much. But this is 80s rap so I’m not expecting too much lyrically.
Day 14/365
Ghostface Killah provided a good boost for Raekwon on this album. I'm not sure I would go back to any song, like I would with Liquid Swords. I did enjoy all the samples used though.
Day 13/365
Even for me the album is too vulgar at times, and I honestly didn't want to hear Dre busting a nut while making this album on Pause 4 Porno. This was a really gritty album, but I do believe some of its worst parts leave a sour taste in your mouth. Watchers was a pretty underrated track tho and Ms. Roq had some decent verses too. Ill probably check out one of her albums.
