I think my opinion on this album is skewed by a few things
A) many songs depict going through a rough time. And I, too, am Going Through A Rough Time. Bike Riding, the first few lines of Sox and Wild Days are so familiar and close to me that they hurt
B) I saw many of these songs live and hearing them on the album makes me miss live music even more.
C) theyre from Canberra. Im from Canberra. I got on the door for one of their shows once by telling them a story about how one of their shirts ... read more
I saw these guys live in Brisbane in 2019 and just didn't know what to take from it. So I was unsure about this album, but God I've sunk into it. You can feel the Paul Kelly influence.
No songs individually stand up to how good I thought Hume was, but collectively it makes a solid album.
Stand out songs are Double Dreaming (whenever something says 'double _____' I'll shout DOUBLE DREAMING WOO WOOOO), Sally's place and Morning Rain.
I love Ruby Fields. Some of these songs are 100/100, some I think may grow on me but for now don't resonate. I was hoping for some fun guitar in the way that Dingo on her last EP had, which we didn't see on this. But the whole album is evidence of her and the band growing and evolving as artists. It's beautiful to see. Warms my little heart.
Considering how good their first album was, I was shocked at how good this album is. Second albums can struggle to stand up with the first album but God this album is good. There are bits that slap, bits that are slow and hurt my heart but all around I could listen to it over and over.
Again, bass lines, vocals and lyrics are so so amazing. Camp cope are important.
The Face of God describes the abusive relationship I was suffered through in a way that I cannot begin to to express myself. It ... read more
This album. This fucking album. It's important. It's amazing.
The vocals. The lyrics. The bass lines. Uuumf. Everything is so good. Get around this. Absorb yourself in it.
Stand out songs: West Side Story, Jet Fuel Can't Melt Steel Beams, Lost (Season One)
Favourite lyrics: (West Side Story)
And it all comes down to the knowledge that we’re gonna die
Find comfort in that or be scared for the rest of your life
So, I sing and I scream and I strum and I try to help out

I didn't expect to love this as much as I did. I listened to it without realising it was Harry Styles while at work, and i was so taken by it.
Falling captures the feeling of sliding back into poor mental health in a really visercal way.
The only issue with it is that it doesn't hold up as much as in a mixed playlist and works much better as a album listen through.
Stand out songs are Falling, Watermelon Sugar and Fine Line.
This album came out when I had just had to move out of home. I was grieving and searching and struggling. I had connected with Pure Heroine as a teenager, but I had grown past who I was then. This album was everything that I needed.
Songs to make me dance and sing with my housemate and songs to make me cry alone in my bed.
Liability breaks and builds my heart so so much. I've always been terrified and too aware of being too much for everyone around me.

Individually, I probably wouldn't love these songs. Actually, I would probably strongly dislike a couple. Do I like repeat artist songs on a soundtrack? Nah. Have i actually seen this movie? Maybe once.
But together, in this order on this album? Flawless. A masterpiece. I would listen to it over and over.
I borrowed this album from the library when I was 14 and put it on my computer and put it on my ipod. I made my sisters listen to it. I was enthralled.

I just think this album is amazing. The only reason it does not get 100 is because I associate Choke with a guy I semi-dated and then was ghosted by, and no matter what I do I can't get past that association but God I still love that song (thanks Matt).
I feel like i will describe every album I like as cathartic but I guess that's what I look for in music. I want to feel a connection and an outlet. This album does that in buckets. I feel less alone.

Slowly slowly do not disappoint. The lyrics rip my heart apart but also make me feel less alone. I distinctly remember listening to New York, Paris for the first time and i was just flawed.
Live, they tear the stage apart and engage everyone in the crowd and I end the gig hoarse and euphoric.
This album has inspired a future tattoo (one day) of mine. Chamomile makes me want to hold a cup of tea and feel the superficial comfort of its warmth. PMTWGR is always stuck in my head in inappropriate ... read more
I feel bad that I'm not rating this higher. I love Polish Club. I loved the hype for this album. I preordered all the merch. I loved the single Stop for A Minute. But when listening to the whole album, I just thought ...meh? Stand out moments were limited. A lot was pretty average. I dont know what I was hoping for, but a bit more.
I saw Waax the day after this album came out and a guy in front of me stomped on my toes really badly. However, nothing could stop me from enjoying this album. Maz is a fucking enigma when she's performing (and probably in her general life too). This album just feels important. Cathartic.

Just excellent. I've followed Amyl for a while now and been a fan (GFY and Some Mutts (can't be muzzled) being my previous favourites). But GOSH this album feels like such an amazing evolution of the band. Still so punk, so full of anger and humour and gritty guitar, but taken to the next level. It makes sense the band has literally gotten better, they toured non-stop before covid hit. But it's just, aaaah, so good. And so political without feeling like I'm being lectured at, in the way I feel ... read more
As the singles were released, I got more and more excited for this album. Juliette and She Yelled Jack i play almost every day on my way to work. They get to me in a way I didn't expect from Pist Idiots previous released. This felt more mature, still self deprecating but from a more jaded and less youthful perspective. The release of the whole album did not disappoint.
