Love the first half, fumbles a bit in the other half but still enjoyable. Idk why it’s giving Twilight Princess vibes in the production style?

Depressed Americana folk pop for the jaded and overworked. Makes me feel like I can put a toothpick in my mouth and actually pull it off

This is what introduced me to mitski. Took me a sec, but when you get it you get it. I love the brevity of the songs, it actually adds to the experience for me.

Aphex Twigs. (Childlike things REALLY bring the whole album down or else it would rank much higher).

I feel that this album really succeeds in putting you into the world that Malibu intended the listener to experience, which is an essential for ambient music. I feel like I’m walking in the album art as I listen.

A classic and soulful pop sound that’s perfect for fall nights. Glad to know good songwriting lives on through younger artists like Olivia.

It just oozes passion and thoughtful care for the crafting of their songs and the world they contain. The vocal delivery needs to be talked about more! Love all the prog rock influence.

Obviously not her best work, but it really does have a place in my heart when the time is right. That time is probably for like 2 weeks out of the year though.

Production takes a minimal and industrial sound which matches her lyrical content. Although some of her lyrics are where she loses me. There’s also 2-3 songs that don’t quite hit the mark for me. Overall pretty good, but a bit too self-revelatory that it borders on self-indulgence.

I really was able to see her vision on this one. It felt like a visual album with the amount of atmosphere she created through the project. Pop doesn’t get much better than this.

Yes there is a lot of nostalgia stowed in this one, but yes it is also still very listenable in 2025. She really was ahead of the curve with this one.
