Buch has a way of making spindly electronic songs that worm their way into your head. For me, Skinned sounds like a singer-songwriter's interpretation of James Ferraro's Far Side Virtual. There is a jubilant sense of possibilities that guide Buch's songwriting. The album remains formless throughout, creating a nice cohesion between the subject matter (remote modes of intimacy) and the sound (simplistic, yet emotional electronic melodies). This album is an excellent abstract project, with a good mix of futuristic and ethereal sounds that combine to create the feeling of exploring an alien world full of a unique beauty. There's softer moments of reflection mixed in with fast-paced excitement, like a heart fluttering with the anticipation of something wonderful.
