Kelela - Take Me Apart

This is my favorite album of all time. I could probably write volumes on what it means to me and the intricacies of each song. Perhaps I will one day. For now though, I just want everyone to know that this album is the pinnacle. The storytelling, the production, the VOCALS, the everything is perfect. Kelela knows exactly what she's doing. If for some reason this album hasn't dug its claws into you yet, turn all the lights off, press play, and let it move your body without you seeing it. The ... read more

Four vibrant house tracks arriving just in time for Summer
Jessie Ware - That! Feels Good!

She did it! Again!

I've loved Jessie ever since I first heard "110%" over a decade ago. Devotion is one of the strongest debuts of the 2010's and a progressive R&B staple. That album still sounds incredibly fresh and moving. Her next two albums, while both full of lovely songs, were chasing something always out of reach. Jessie has spoken very candidly about how after touring Glasshouse, she didn't see a future for herself in the music industry. Determined to go out on a bang ... read more

Bengali folk music that descends further into the club as it progresses. Really impressive track and complimentary remixes. You can easily listen all the way through and forget that the same song is repeating.
Ellie Goulding - Higher Than Heaven

Ellie is really good at pop! Everyone needs to let her have her fun, and gently push her further onto the dancefloor.
Nia Archives - Sunrise Bang Ur Head Against Tha Wall

Nia Archives is such an exciting artist to follow. She is leading the jungle resurgence with her unique and ever-expanding perspective on the genre. This latest EP features two of her greatest singles thus far, "Baiana" and "So Tell Me..". The former is a delectable swirl of Brazilian DNB samples, while the latter is a tender jungle track draped in guitar and strings. Together they represent the breadth of Archives' vision of 2020's jungle. The other tracks on the EP offer ... read more

I disagree with the notion that the beginning of December is "List Season". I use December to listen to everything again and to distract me from the typical dirge of new music. Not to mention, BEYONCÉ dropped in the middle of Decemeber...

All that to say, my Favorite Albums of 2021 list will not be arriving till later in the month.

Hey there! I’m making a community list for the end of the world, and I would love for you to contribute.

Prompt:

“The surrounding buildings, in ruins. The last survivors, scrambling to find anything that remains. Fire flickers in the pitch-black, creating just a sliver of radiance. Miraculously, you find an old device that can play music. You can only play one album as the battery is nearly dead. Knowing that you have little time left, what is the one album that you choose to listen to as you watch the world crumble before your eyes?”

The album topic could discuss a disastrous time, its sound could fit the vibe of a post apocalyptic setting, or it could be one of your favorite albums that you would want to experience for the last time.

Please provide the artist, album, and an explanation as to why you chose that specific album.

Thank you for reading <3
