Nice record but not his "finest". Break It Yourself and The Mysterious Production of Eggs are better.
Blood of the Past is really amazing. Kate Tempest fits perfectly, such a divine song.
Start liking just after Phoebe said the first words. Started loving it just after Conor joined her. Perfect mix.
The first track is the highlight of the album for me. The strenght of the album is the quality of the songwriting and the amount of feelings that are in the songs. That is seen at full power in DKWIWnF, such an emotional track.
Reminds me so much of Mount Eerie.
Fav: Didn't Know What I Was In For, Dominos, Service Road
Least Fav: Exception to the Rule
A cool mix of songs, far from being an actual and legit cohesive album I guess.
Started great, loved the first 3 tracks. After that I realized this work was focused more on the experimental aspect than anything else.
I didn't hate any of the tracks (wtf was Nuke tho?), but they never reached my expectations after the first 3.
Alcohol has a cool instrumental but the chorus is cringe.
Anyway, I think it was solid. They're just good.
(10 Rating is just nonsense, wtf LaQ)
Their worst album so far. Not saying it's a bad one, just worse than the others. Was excepting way more. Maybe more tracks like "American Guilt", the album's highlight for me.
The rest of it turns out to be a bit bland and forgettable, with no ambition or risks.
Always been a fan of The Vaccines and Indie Rock, but this album does not satisfied me very much.
Too much Pop. Lacks some bangers, it sounds bland and too much soft.
Give it a positive rate anyway. It's an average record, was expecting more.
Some songs sound like drafts and fillers, a bit too experimental for my taste.
But I liked the album in general. The subliminar messages in some songs give it a touch of humour too (Why Walk a Dog?, Corporation).
Appreciate the risk he took. A win, in my view.
I wish every song of this album was like Disarray. Only one that standed out.
The rest of it was kinda boring and plain.
Disappointed, was looking forward to this one.
Solid debut indeed.
Getting Along sounds amazing in Acoustic.
Must be a fun band to watch live. Catchy, enjoyable, well-writen songs.
Looking forward to what they'll do next. Maybe something a bit riskier.
Samples do Criolo na "Junho de 94". «Falar demais chiclete azeda» - "Esquiva da Esgrima".
Grande álbum.
Favoritas: Junho de 94, De Lá
One of the saddest well-written records I listened in the past years, touches your heart and soul. I found myself thinking on my life and my loved ones while listening to this. Truly makes time stop.
It's well structured, beginning with Phil's 20's, the wife's death, and the journey after that. Not only the lyrics are brutally meaningful, every single word has a reason to be there. It's a sung book.
Sometimes vocals and instrumental are not on the same "page", sounding a bit weird and ... read more
Starts well (first 4-5 tracks), but the rest of it comes a little bland for me. Many dispensable tracks at the end. The spotlight is "For You Too".
Its enjoyable, but was expecting more after the single's release.
