On the surface, undoubtedly this record is a product of the 2010’s folky rock undertones of like arcade fire & here we go magic & fleet foxes & so on but there is still the spirit of originality and conviction in the voice of Zach rogue & I always am a sucker for that, still it did feel maybe a little thin for me, I would’ve loved more poetry to go along with this ethereal ascension, “Chicago x12” & “Lake Michigan” stood out to me as greats

I’ve sat with this record for years now, ‘rave on u’ has always been one of my favorite tunes but throughout the duration each track kind of has a focal point around a few musical motifs and just kind of manipulates the production to create this nice tension and release, there is never a ridiculous blown out “drop” but rather a fluid stream of rhythms, a crucial album for quality music enthusiasts

Some raunchy beats and quite poetic lyrical content here but some of the tracks towards the midsection just didn't seem to stick with me. This is a record i've been jammin on and off for years now, certain numbers really hit me deep or bang like crazy but in tracks with the heaviest features JID i feel becomes drowned, he shines solo! 'raydar' and 'lauder too' are favorites

this album is not perfect and neither is any of michael hurleys work but you can sense in the musical tone he never aims for perfection and its why i absolutely adore his contribution to folk music, truly a legend of honestly sweet and unpretentious storytelling. He will always be one of my favorite artists, much love and rest in peace michael hurley. I don't think i'll review most of his albums as they just exist in a universe unfit for quantitative scores, he was just havin ... read more
