Definitely better than their first album but some songs are just not good and fall flat almost right away.
Pretty middle of the road. A lot feels derivative of George Clinton, even the cover art but not a horrible album
I know im not rating this a perfect score but just know that there are days where I listen to this and think "is this the greatest albums ever made?" And Then I think "no, of course not i mean... no" and then I hear somgs like R.I.P. Fredo, Choppa Won't Miss, No Time, Long Time and more and im just blown away, truly. A trap classic
People have said it time and time again but yeah this album is so bland and basic that it really feels like it was only made for commercials and even then these are some ear-grading tunes to have blaring through your TV speakers or headphones.
Only song I will defend and genuinely do enjoy is I'll Make It Up To You. I dont care that everyone else hates it, im a sucker for synth pop and its by far the most bearable track on the entire album.
While 6LACK's last album grew on me over time, it still didn't match up to his sophomore album, East Atlanta Love Letter. A record filled with his best singing, songwriting, and production. Love is the New Gangsta seems to come close though. Off of the first few listens alone, I get thay same excitement that I got (and still get) from hearing EALL.
