This is how you do a long album. The sequencing has to be the most masterful thing about this album; it's almost as if your attention is truly glued to the genius of the album because of the way the songs and interludes work together so that you don't get too bored or overstimulated. The storytelling is so beautiful, and the compositions are so simple yet complex. The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades is one of my favorite songs of all time, simply because it's so hauntingly ... read more
Hot Like Wow only wiggled in the mold of the late 2000s electropop scene, experimenting ever so slightly as to not disturb the electronic club scene. I had never heard music that made me feel like that before, ever. This album deserves its recognition as Björk's best album. It is the synthesis between the electronic and acoustic elements that makes this album so bone-chillingly good.
My first Sufjan album, and quite frankly, my favorite of his. Hell, it's my personal favorite album of all time. Everything about this album, to me, is perfect. The production, vocals, sequencing, flow, lyrics, and even the album cover are perfect. Unlike his other albums, which have a thematic focus on something like a state, person, or concept, this album is ultimately about himself. His experiences. His struggles. Himself. It adds a layer of personality and vulnerability amidst the ... read more
