so good that i had to hop back on my album of the year account and let everyone know
I feel like listening to only this album for two weeks would be a pretty good fantasy punishment.
Listening to ChatGPT Recommended Albums, Part 11
It's about damn time I listened to this one front to back.
I don't think I need to talk too much about Nirvana themselves or the influence they brought, I'm sure there's already hundreds of reviews here that do just that way better than I could. I've obviously had my share of Nirvana, I feel like almost anyone did just growing up. I never really went out of my way to listen to them though, since I basically only ... read more

This was somewhat an album I've had on my radar for a while so I'm glad Chat suggested it. I didn't know what to expect, all I knew was I liked Train in Vain and loved the title track on this thing. And while not on this album, Rock The Casbah is one of my favorite songs ever.
So this ended up being another really tough album to rate. It seemed like every track was either the perfect/close to perfect, or a miss for me. There was ... read more
I will never knack JID's pure rapping ability, in fact, I think he's one of if not the best in the game in that regard right now. However, some tracks suffer from features or production that don't completely match JID's energy. I also think some tracks drag on a bit too long for my liking. If I'm not engaged in a track from the get go, it's gonna be hard for me to enjoy 5-6 minutes of it. However this thing still has some fantastic tracks, such as the crazy opener ... read more

This was definitely not an album I expected to be given. I wasn't expecting 2000's boom-bap style in general, but within that I would've guessed it would've given me something by MF DOOM or maybe an early Kanye project. However, I'm very familiar with all those albums so perhaps this was a good pick.
Clipse was never really on my radar until their 2025 release "Let God Sort Em Out", a very solid project that is ... read more

After the highs of Superunknown and the emotional rollercoaster of Mama’s Gun, I told Chat to throw me something completely different, and it did. Heaven or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins.
Now, I was sort of familiar with their vibe going in. I knew this was gonna be dreamy, maybe a little abstract, but I definitely wasn’t prepared for just how floaty this thing was. From the jump, you can tell this isn’t an album trying to be ... read more
It's a fun and groovy album. Nothing more than that, but it isn't meant to be.
I just don't like it as much as everyone else :/ maybe the style just wasn't for me. I did enjoy tracks such as GODSTAINED and THAT'S WHY though.
Yeah this shit is pretty great. Production did not miss once and especially hit on tracks such as 1995, that second half was beautiful. At times, Freddie's slower rapping didn't fully click with me but it far from ruined the experience. I did not like the Larry June feature though (Anderson. Paak and JID were great). There were a good amount of songs I didn't add off first listen but I am giving this an 80 because the highlights are insane and I think this is an album everyone ... read more
Listening to ChatGPT Recommended Albums, Part 7
This one caught me off guard.
After Superunknown, I had full faith in Chat so I told it to pick whatever, and it hit me with Mama’s Gun by Erykah Badu. Now, I’m not unfamiliar with Badu by name. I knew her vibe, but I’ve never sat with one of her albums in full before. So, I figured why not. Let’s see what the hype’s about.
Strangely enough, I was right to be suspicious at first, because Mama’s Gun is not an ... read more

Meant to get to this a lot sooner than I did, but the past week has been hectic. Apologies. (No one even reads these besides myself so who cares but alas)
For this album, I requested a grunge album. I was expecting one of the giant iconic albums, such as In Utero or Ten, maybe Dirt. Since I haven't listened to a grunge album front to back before I was expecting a pretty basic choice. However, it gave me Superunknown instead.
Now, I ... read more
