Travis Scott - 2000 EXCURSION

The definition of wasted potential. Travis is my favourite artist but I was not impressed by 4x4 or any of his other features this year. So when I heard a brilliant guitar riff with KANYE POWER SAMPLED DRUMS at the start of this, i thought we were so back. Only for Travis and Sheck Wes to refuse to rap over these and use a more basic trap beat. Sheck Wes was unimpressive as usual, and Travis let his standards slip as well, both putting in 5/10 shifts. Don Toliver’s chorus and overall ... read more

Drake - What Did I Miss?

The song sounds fine. The beat? Nice melody with fairly basic drums and a solid vocal performance. The problem lies in the lyrics.

“I don’t give a **** if you like me” - you say that then sue over a diss track.

He has to stop bringing up the beef, it makes him look more and more desperate but he won’t because he loves the attention. I’ll be interested to see how Iceman comes out because right now it looks like it might be a full album of complaining about the ... read more

Brilliant. So much going on yet still able to keep extremely meaningful lyricism. Great production, only complaint would be to try and perhaps vary the production, but still brilliant considering it’s fairly unique. Album of the year so far for me

He has done it! The single worst song I have ever heard, just edging dance monkey for its crown. A title Ice spice could only dream of. The generic love story melody that does not match at all to the drums, the way in which all the lyrics are just TikTok words mashed together without any flow, all collaborating to construct the worst song of all time.

"@Ves I see. I have two questions; one, how did you come across the niche gem that is edmund? And two, upon discovering such a find, what implored you to have your ears blessed both lyrically and sonically, yet still claim not to enjoy a song that is ultimately one of the peaks of human creativity?"

"@solace333 ik braces appeals to mainstream, still good. This is just bad. No hate to esdee, he’s good but mink shouldn’t just copy him. If it came off as an esdee dislike I don’t mean it like that but he is definitely more familiar than mink. He’s clearly dropped his aesthetic on this one for wraith9 and we’ve heard it all on rebel (which is good btw but we don’t need mink spamming more of it)"
On fakemink - Fidelio
"@solace333 mate, this has way less substance to it than his older stuff. There’s a reason esdee kid is growing faster than mink without crazy co-signs; his music is much easier to digest. This is so similar to esdee and not as unique as songs off london’s saviour or earlier singles"

On Kendrick Lamar - GNX
"@Tudor06 I am music and Gnx are both mid projects from great artists (yes carti is a great artist, whole lotta red started a subgenre) that were dumbed down and lost their edge. Carti showed rare glimpses of his old self with songs like I seeeeee you baby boi which was very experimental. For Kendrick it was wacced out murals. After that Cartis weak lyricism was extremely noticeable on basic Atlanta trap beats and Kendrick hopped on basic trap beats and r and b, pretty much like Drake. I think 60 is fair for both because there are good songs on each but mostly a whole lotta mid"
