"Glory" is a vast improvement over the subpar album "Britney Jean". Spears' vocal performance is noteworthy here, along with impressive production and a feeling of untethered energy. "Invitation" is an exceptional album opener - an addicting track with intriguing production driven by vocals. "Do You Wanna Come Over?", "Make Me...", "Man On The Moon", and "Just Like Me" are excellent tracks as well, with interesting production ... read more
While it does have its intriguing moments, "Britney Jean" is Spears' weakest album to date. With it being billed as a "personal" album, it comes off as strangely impersonal and subpar compared to her previous work. "Chillin' With You" featuring Jamie Lynn Spears is Britney's absolute worst song and feels totally forced. In addition to that, there are a few songs where it doesn't sound like she is singing the songs (or at least she is not doing lead vocals): ... read more
"Femme Fatale" changes up the formula to great avail, utilizing various dubstep and electronic elements, creating one of Britney Spears' best albums and contains some of her most iconic songs: "Till the World Ends", "Hold It Against Me", and "I Wanna Go". These three singles go pretty hard and are great examples of her new sound that incorporates dance pop, electropop, and EDM. With the exception of "How I Roll" and "Big Fat Bass", ... read more
"Circus" is Britney Spears' crowning achievement and the peak of her creative exceptionalism. This album builds off of the success and consistency of "Blackout" with stellar production and composition. It's also insanely catchy! The singles are great on this album, but what comes as a surprise is that the other tracks are almost as good or just as good, with "Shattered Glass" being one of my top favorite tracks from Spears. She has always had a knack for making ... read more
"It's Britney, bitch."
"Blackout" is one of Britney Spears' most consistent albums. The production is, for the most part, a highlight of the album and the songs are all pretty catchy. Lead single "Gimme More" is easily the best track of the album, with infectious production and a notably confident vocal performance from Spears. "Piece of Me" is another great track, and even though the production is admittedly cringe and outdated, her committed ... read more
"In The Zone" is a disappointing step backwards in terms of composition and quality. The album does include the exceptional singles "Toxic" and "Everytime" and a few decent tracks ("Breathe On Me", "Outrageous", and "Touch of My Hand"), but there isn't anything else that is remotely as interesting. In fact, we have some egregiously terrible songs that are downright bad and a lot of mediocre filler tracks. "Me Against the ... read more
Third time's the charm. Britney Spears is now a household name and a role model for young girls, but this is a transitionary period of sorts. Lead single "I'm a Slave 4 U" is her first overtly sexual track and "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" explicitly prepares us for her eventual transition to more mature lyrical content and production values. "Overprotected", "Lonely", and "Cinderella" are other great tracks that are personal favorites of ... read more
Britney Spears' sophomore album is a slight improvement over her debut. "Oops!... I Did It Again" managed to become as iconic as "...Baby One More Time", with "Stronger" and "Lucky" being the other stellar singles from the album. "Lucky" in particular is a personal favorite of mine from her early era - there is a melancholy undertone in the lyrics and vocal delivery contrasted against the upbeat production that makes it feel like the most ... read more
Hit Me Baby One More Time! The nostalgia factor is high with this album. It's one of my first experiences with music, along with Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, and 'N SYNC in 1999. My very first CD as a kid!
The album has some great singles, but the album as a whole is fairly mediocre. Sappy, dull ballads aside, the first three tracks are iconic and insanely recognizable. When you think of Britney Spears, "...Baby One More Time", "(You Drive Me) Crazy", and ... read more
A return to form, but not as exciting or interesting as I'd hoped it would be, especially with the return of Tom DeLonge. As with the previous album, the "catchy" element is somewhat lacking in most of the tracks. There are a handful that definitely make the cut though: "ANTHEM PART 3" was a cool throwback to their 2000s era, but it could have been a bit better. "ONE MORE TIME" and "DANCE WITH ME" are great singles that capture the same magic from their ... read more
Despite the absence of Tom DeLonge, "California" is a formidable and triumphant album, both in its length and ambition. The decision to release a 16 track (28 on Deluxe) album is a point of contention for many, but I found myself breezing through the album quite easily. The upbeat energy and catchiness of the tracks make it a pretty enjoyable listening experience.

A rather unassuming EP and a commendable continuation of their mature sound from "Neighborhoods". "Disaster" is a phenomenal track that has an exceptional vocal performance from Tom DeLonge that is emotionally charged, along with robust, powerful production. "When I Was Young" and "Dogs Eating Dogs" are good tracks, but nothing too exciting or notable. The last two tracks are the least effective, with "Boxing Day" being a meandering acoustic ... read more
After the release of their 2003 album "Blink-182", the band went on a hiatus and did not release any new material until 2011's "Neighborhoods". The album is crafted very nicely, despite the band being apart and not making music together for an extended period of time. The vocals, instrumentals, and lyrics all sound more mature and the progression of their career seems to be doing well, making it one of their best albums at this point in time.
Unfortunately, this is the last ... read more
Blink-182's fifth album is intriguing because of its darker and more mature direction, taking a decidely less bombastic, and more mellow, approach. The album features good singles and deep cuts, notably "I Miss You", "Down", "Always", "Obvious", and "Asthenia". Everything sounds more textured, personal, and sonically diverse. We could do without the two interludes, which slows down the pacing and doesn't really add much value to the album ... read more
"Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" is a worthy follow-up album that is practically on par with "Enema of the State". It continues in the same creative vein, with some of their best songs to date appearing on the album: "Stay Together for the Kids", "First Date", and "The Rock Show".
"Stay Together for the Kids" is arguably the best song of their career. It edges out all of the other hit singles because of the effective vocal dynamic and ... read more
Blink-182's "Enema of the State" offers a wide spectrum of songs that are positively upbeat and insanely catchy, with some evoking a strong sense of pensive sadness and introspection. The three singles are the most recognizable tracks on the album: "Adam's Song" is about depression and loneliness; "What's My Age Again?" talks about age as it relates to maturity; and "All The Small Things" is their defining hit single about young love and optimism. Despite ... read more
Blink-182's sophomore effort "Dude Ranch" is mediocre at best, but at least it's consistent and the production has improved since their debut. "Dammit", "Pathetic", and "Waggy" are the standouts, but that's not saying much because the majority of the tracks on here are lackluster and forgettable.
Blink 182's debut album sounds pretty terrible because of poor mixing, but it does have its moments of charm and endearment. The vocals can be grating a lot of the time, but the main issue is that there just isn't anything particularly interesting or dynamic here.
"RENAISSANCE" is a slight improvement over "Lemonade" but not by a huge margin. However, the overall tone is thankfully much more upbeat and the dance vibe of the album is a welcome change of pace. The singles that were released are a mixed bag - "VIRGO'S GROOVE" is the best song on the album because of its stellar production and nuanced vocals, "BREAK MY SOUL" is a dance track with an uplifting feel to it that is thoroughly enjoyable, "CUFF IT" ... read more
