Neither of them I had any ideas about and been forgotten to time, only purchased because of their price and album cover. I was stunned with how well the Boomtown Rats were able to pull off a confident and daring punk rock debut. It surprised me how vastly different this album is from the previous ones of theirs I have heard. Easily their best work as far as i'm concerned
Come on Eileen is one of the greatest songs of all time, performed by a band that, prior to listening to this album, only had one good song in their catalogue. So it is no light feat when I say that the entire album was consistently as energetic, fun, catchy and relistenable as their massive hit. An album that is so much fun that I actually was enjoying playing Halo Infinite LASO while listening to this in the background
Harry Nilsson performing gorgous Disney-esque covers that seamlessly flow from one to the other? Absolutely count me in. Such a truly magical listening experience from start to finish, feeling like a warm blanket that in several places completely overwhelmed me. This Nilsson guy is something special.
Being released smack-bang in the middle of my two favourite Beach Boys albums, I had really high expectations for this one. Unfortunatley it absolutley squandered any and all expectations of coming even close to the consistent quality and genuis found on the afformentioned albums. The first four tracks are absolute snoozefests, completly unmemorable that wouldn't even be considered good enough as the B-Side for actual Pet Sounds B-sides.
