i would have trashed 'til we die bcs aespa usually doesn't do pop rock that well. but then they seamlessly pulled that "midnight sun-esque" outro, which was soooooo GOOD. anyways shakin' is my favorite song on the album even tho there are two tracks that are more sonically interesting
Listening to the first few tracks at first felt jarring and made me think I will never understand the hype towards their music. But listening to the next couple of tracks definitely smoothened my listening experience, and thus explains this score above.
Even though it's an EP, this one here is their BEST album in their entire discography. Butterfly still never fails to give me chills and good nostalgic feelings despite sounding like a product of its time. That's why BTS' older music >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> newer music especially Arirang. This is BTS at their most lyrically in-depth and melodically adventurous, with a lot of sonic delights. Although I don't wish for them to go back to ... read more
a perfect album to listen to during winter despite being released amidst summer
I know some people find this album basic and safe but trust me when I say this gets better and more addictive after a few more listens.
Certainly my top 3 Madonna album. Ray of Light and CODF may be better sonically and composition-wise, but Bedtime Stories is my favorite album of hers just because I love R&B lol
I will never fall for the propaganda that Shoso Strip, or any other Sheena Ringo album, is better than this one.
So unfortunate that the "only early Sheena Ringo's works are incredible" people won't give her later works a chance, because Heisei Fuzoku, Sanmon Gossip, and Reimport Vol. 2: Civil Aviation Bureau are other spectacular records in their own merit. And perhaps, Carnival, too, but I haven't listened to it yet. They won't also give her band, Tokyo Jihen, a chance, which is a shame since Kyoiku, Adult (especially this), and Sports are albums deserving of high ... read more
I do agree that Ben&Ben makes such repetitive music nowadays for the sake of maintaining their lovesick, heartbroken fanbase and casual listeners. But claiming that their whole catalogue is simply vapid and repetitive is definitely a hasty generalization. Pebble House, Vol 1: Kuwaderno comprised some of the incredible music in 2020s OPM scene. An album that took risks in experimentation and genre-bending musicality. You won't usually hear tracks, such as "Sabel" and ... read more
This album further proves that Rosalía, as The Fader claimed, is a complicated genius. LUX has contributed an impressive milestone on her entire genre-bending and rollercoaster-like discography, and it's not a surprise at all. Rosalía, along with Beyoncé, is one of the very few mainstream artists of today who are unafraid to take musical risks and approach their expanding artistry in an avant-garde fashion.
Although this still doesn't top El Mal Querer as her ... read more
At first listen, some of the production sounded pretty jarring and clunky, and the progression of the song structure could get lost on me at times mostly due to the former. But I'm glad that it has grown on me after a few subsequent listens. I absolutely love the themes and concepts they incorporated in this album, as much as I did with Modern Vampires in City: the push-and-pull dynamic of cynicism and hope, the confusion and weariness towards the modern world, and the profound grapple ... read more
As dreamlike and surreal as 0 can be, and as immersive and cinematic as Windswept Adan can be, there is something in the intimacy and delicateness of qp that makes it my favorite album of hers.
UPDATE: This album just dropped at the bottom of my Taylor album rankings.
A step-up from her appallingly mediocre 2024 album sonically-wise, but remains a testament to her artistic and musical regression. She could have explored and experimented with other genres and ideas after putting out her best albums, Folklore and Evermore. But fame and overexposure apparently turned her approach to music into uninspired, repetitive, and profit-driven.
sometimes i grapple between divers and have one on me as my favorite joanna newsom album. but then i remember that "anecdotes" exists in this album
