I wanted to like this album cause I think Poppy has potential to be one of my favorite artists, especially when you look at her other material like “I Disagree” or the “EAT” EP. Sadly, I didn’t find much enjoyment with this album.

For what I did enjoy, I think Poppy’s vocals are good despite this album not showcasing them the best. I personally love her vocals on “Knockoff” and how floaty yet demeaning they seem to be. I also like some of the beats like on “Church Outfit” and “Motorbike.” Now as for negatives, the instrumentals in this album are too safe and could be interchangeable between each of the tracks. I think in terms of electropop you can do so much more by playing with different song structures and playing with the energy level of each song instead of having stereotypical club sounding music that remains constant for the whole song. Overall disappointing, but not really something to hate on.

Edit: Honestly this album is way better when you put it against her Negative Spaces and Empty Hand albums in terms of production and instrumentation. I still think it's flawed in some areas but it's a way more interesting than a generic and overblown alternative metal album that I've heard from other, lesser artists and bands.
