From Joe: "Sometimes I don't feel like singing. These are songs that have come from those sessions.
Some of my favorite albums are for when I don't want to hear anyones voice. I hope this can be one of those for you."
bummer; because I like when he sings. but respect, or whatever.
Disc 1: 75
Disc 2: 45
Shoulda been 2 albums. Would rather rate the higher so its easier to identify which albums I liked than to try some other approach like avg.
No, I won't buy in to it. I relistened to it, and I just don't believe you. It's incredibly boring, and everyone is trying to trick you otherwise. You won't fool me!
Some very redeemable moments for sure. Never watched My Little Pony. The dubstep/brostep portions are definitely the low-lights for me, though, and more present than I would like.
Accidentally stumbled upon this girl on Spotify to find she has like 20 monthly listeners; which is way too few because she is a fuckin' vibe.
The fact that 'Get Into It (Yuh') is currently the lowest rated song on this album tells me y'all don't know what you're talking about, and that this albums rating is far too low. Y'all put too much on her. Song is a bop, album is a banger.
I think I was supposed to learn Korean before listening to this.
Heavy reminiscent of earlier Bright Eyes, in a good way. Modern Times was the turning point for me feeling this was brilliant.
I really adore this album and am very happy that I found it. It's an indie rock opera about family, artistry, acceptance, and yes, waiting. A little folk-punk, a little mountain goats... It's wholesome, imaginative, cute... Really just a well packaged record that is exactly the kind of wistful positivity I want right now.
Heaux Tales is a contradiction.
From the title; a spelling of 'Ho' tales that's so fancified as to be entirely unfancy (is it also supposed to be a pun on a southern pronunciation of hotels? If so; also exceptionally cheesy).
But the album itself is empowering and yet lamentable. It's serious and yet hilarious. It's sleazy and yet romantic. It feels like it's leading itself to be a caricature of some tired hiphop/r&b tropes; and yet it is entirely down to earth and authentic.

I fought every urge to turn this off for the first 10 minutes. I really did not like it. I hated it. I don't know why I didn't turn it off.
But I finished it.
Around the 6th track; I started to open up to what it was doing; though I wasn't sure if the tracks were just getting slightly more accessible.
I've now listened to the album 5 times in a row. I love it. It's beautiful.
I don't recommend it to anyone.
