I generally vibe with it, the production is very crunchy and it hits a spot i've been looking for for a while (minus the pitch altered voices, there's not a way to make them work for me, personally). The acoustic bits are specially great.

Definitely an unique album. Great instrumentation, specially for the first two tracks. Sadly, not all tracks are as great as those two. I love the vocals, they're a vibe, but I can totally understand people not liking it very much.
Very energetic bits with really good production (nice bleeps & bloops). Still, there's a very warm melancholic feel beneath everything. Some melodies, like the main one in Hewlett's Daughter just make you wanna curl up comfortably while thinking of something that happened way, way back in your childhood that made you sad. But not a very traumatic event, more like you met someone your age in a hotel at a trip and you know you'll never see them again, but you still think of them.

Outstanding production for its time. A lot of things make this a very solid debut: the vocals, the interesting textures and the mix between funky and agressive vibes. It's maybe less concise than I would like, and the guitar is too "clean" in the most aggressive parts (part of me expected some deftones-ish guitars in some bits). But that's also interesting, since Trent's amazing vocal delivery and the crazy good percussion compensates for what i find lacking in the guitar textures. ... read more
