ZOMBIESHARK! - ANGEL NOISES, YOU'RE SAFE NOW.

Music in 2026 has had absurdly high peaks, even just halfway through the year (see Converge, Moodring, Chamber, Static Dress, Crowquill, etc). Even so, still so much is numbingly redundant, and only really serves to further oversaturate the alternative landscape. Enter ZOMBIESHARK! with their newest offering ANGEL NOISES, YOU'RE SAFE NOW, an album that turns this all on its head and then dares you not to enjoy it. And, in all fairness, it'd be difficult not to.

UPDATE: Fuck Balmora.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I'd like to start this by level-setting and stating that Balmora is not a bad band. Up until this point, they had a near flawless discography; Your Unyielding Light, July Unending, Blighted To Pine and more were incredible works of revival-era metalcore class. Balmora is made up of incredible songwriters, performers, and musicians, and they are an amazing band. However, this record is particularly troubling.

Most importantly to note, this record ... read more

It's hard to indulge in eras past without finding yourself steeped in nostalgia, unable to show progression or growth. The trappings of nostalgia are tempting, but keeping your sound fresh in spite of this is paramount. Ultimately, I'm not sure I've ever seen a band walk that line better than Moodring does on their sophomore album death fetish.

Having taken four years after their debut LP Stargazer, Moodring has crafted a record that truly raises the bar for modern metal going ... read more

IMISSYOUALREADY - of teardrop stained glass and a dream i once had

IMISSYOUALREADY made their debut on streaming with a song featured on the Dusk's Cold Embrace compilation released earlier this year by The Coming Strife Records. Since then, and the announcement of their signing to the label, their true debut has been hotly anticipated. Knowing this, IMISSYOUALREADY delivered and then some.

Having been described to The Coming Strife before their signing as "In Flames with breakdowns" as per the label's website, the band leans just as ... read more

ERRA - silence outlives the earth

Let me start by saying that ERRA is a band made up of some of the most incredibly talented musicians out there right now. The performances on this album aren't the problem, and this rating is not a result of a band who doesn't know what they're doing. ERRA is incredible, and are capable of truly phenomenal work.

However, this record is possibly worse than simply being a bad album; it's just forgettable. Many of its songs blend together, featuring ideas that in a vacuum seem ... read more
