Killer Mike - MICHAEL
74

This rating hurt me. I really wanted to love this record, but I just couldn't. There's some really good tracks on here (Down By Law, Shed Tears, Scientists & Engineers, the final 3 tracks), but the rest feel kind of lazy in comparison. Mike gives some really great performances, but as a whole, I can't rate this any higher sadly.

Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city

You don't need me to tell you this is amazing. Everybody knows this is amazing.

I gave this album a first listen a few days ago (I know way too late), and my God it lives up to all the hype. Pretty much flawless, my only issue is that a song or two aren't as good as the rest. That will probably change on a third or fourth listen because the other songs I didn't love the first time around grew on me instantly the second time around. It can only go up from here. Crazy good album.

Built to Spill - Keep It Like a Secret

This album has some of the most fun guitars I've ever heard.

Jeff Rosenstock - HELLMODE
80

All the people "bringing back pop punk" getting the limelight when Jeff Rosenstock is literally right here.

The Dirty Nil - Fuck Art
85

A couple duds, but the energy never lets up. Fuck Art provides a high energy fun time all the way through. Heavy screaming and heavier riffs, this scratches my every itch. Lyrics are never deep, but they can be really funny, so I don't really care much. These guys are killer live.

System of a Down - Toxicity

Baby's first metal album is well-renowned for a reason. This is genuinely amazing. No song is wasted. They're all fun and sound like God.

billy woods & Kenny Segal - Maps

I was very surprised by this, it was really really good. I didn't expect a rap album going in, and I wasn't really in the mood for one when I threw it on, but the first track put me in the mood for one. So good.

The Beatles - Let It Be
70

Solid songs, but not much more. I like that it's just a straightforward rock album after all the experimentation these guys got up to, and they delivered a good experience for sure. Just nothing great. Let It Be, Get Back and I've Got a Feeling are all really great songs, though.

Nah there's no way this is in the yellow wtf was I thinking

Radiohead - The Bends
90

A couple less good songs are thrown in, but altogether this album is amazing. Super solid rock album, and it doesn't really need to be much more. It's crazy that this followed up Pablo Honey. Quite possibly the greatest sophomore album ever released.

boygenius - the record

A lot of really good moments on here. $20 and Satanist were really cool and easily my favorites. I'll have to re-listen because my attention wasn't 100% on it the whole way through, but I really liked what I heard. Overall really pleasant, despite being obviously sad.
