Insanely underrated record. I may feel this way bacause it just feel super personal for me but Id say its her best work so far (yes even with Hit me hard and soft out). The way she combines vunerability with soft sexual or seductive topics truly feels like she decided to just give her diary and every though out to public.
she tried i think maybe.
The Vatican might be one of the worst songs ive heard.
Loude$t album in America. Im obsessed with how this album switched between its dirty, raw, heavy sound and the more smooth, calm, euphoric pieces. Sometimes campy and pure fun, different times touching vunerable themes of fear, abandonment, rage and death. Its messy in the best way possible.
Underscores scores again with U. Id described this album as more minimalistic than underscores previous records, but that doesnt mean its any less fun. I think its actually what the album needed. Sticking to her signature digital and glitchy sound, you can still kinda feel the SOPHIE influence. Im always shocked how she manages to create these amazing albums all herself.
West End Girl feels like reading through Lily Allens diary and tells a detailed story of her divorce and what led to it. One of the most open and personal records ive listened to. Id like to mention the trendless production. Feels like a breath of fresh air. I just kinda wish this album stayed feature-less, cause the collab on Nonmonogamummy kinda disturbs the whole song.
Memoir of a Sparklemuffin offers a melancholy listen great for a rainy weather, but even storms dont drag themselves for so long liek this album did. Its a great example of the "Less is more" saying. This album couldve been much better had it not have so much runtime. Theres propably like 6-8 tracks that didnt have to be here. Its not like theyre bad, but unispiring, vague and pretty much forgettable. The rest of the songs make a solid project together though.
Louder, Please is a fun dance debut, which can sometimes feel a bit safe. You can tell that Rose Gray is still experimenting with her sound and honestly thats when she shines the most. Tracks like Damn, Everything Changes (But I Wont) and Wet & Wild are highlights for me, propably because of the more electro sound shes going for. Unfortunetaly theres some low moments like Tectonic or Louder, Please, which dont entertain me as the other songs. I still think this is a solid debut and have ... read more
Currents is a masterpiece. There's not a lot of other album that can make you feel so alive like Currents does.
I Disagree balances chaos and mayhem with peace and quiet.
There are a few moments that feel too "tryhard", but nonetheless this album is really unique and a great listen with a lovely cathartic ending.
From the Pyre stands out thanks to its theatrical structure and vocals you really can't get enough of. The Last Dinner Party leans even more into their iconic style getting their music to a new level.
Pure Heroine explores themes of growing up and captures them perfectly. Im really glad for discovering it at a young age, so i could have a piece of music that felt very understanding.
Addison is a really strong debut full of personality. If you told me 3 years ago, that Addison Rae is going to make music this good i wouldnt believe you. I keep obsessing over the flowy, rich sound of every track. Especially Times Like These, New York and High Fashion. I just kinda wish more songs were "kept a secret", since half of this album was released as singles, and 2 of the 6 new songs were interludes. The only track that doesnt really stay with me is Summer Forever, kinda ... read more
C,XOXO is a confusing listen. It just feels like theres too many ideas at once. I gave it a couple of listens and yet I can remember like two or three songs in total. Chanel No.5 is the only one I liked, but still gotta admit that the lyrics are definitely questionable at least. Also wtf is Drake doing here.
Girl With No Face is a fun dark synthpop record, which does great at staying cohesive all trough, but in a few places takes rather a simple path. It just feels like theres something yet to be reached with a couple of the songs. Despite that, Its just a great record that discusses original topics, persues the darker aesthetic and could be appreciated more that it is.
how i'm feeling now is a vunerable and honest record, which opens relatable themes of self-loathing and messy healing over great hyperpop beats.
The Life of a Showgirl dissapoints in one too many ways. Unfortunetly, one good song cannot save the rest of the immature lyrics, uninspired production and Taylors "victim/villain/badass/tortured poet" persona. As a former fan who grew up on her, it has been pitiful to watch her career go down the drain artistically. I dont know what the hell happened since Evermore but dear god have mercy. I dont have the right to decide which music is good or bad (or if those terms even exist when ... read more
The Provocateur is an impressive debut with a clear direction which Adéla fulfills and establishes her as the next it girl.
