The way this band showed so much promise at the start only to get duller and duller each step of the way following "The Resistance" is hard to explain. How? How do you lose the essence that made you unique. This band always had similarities to some of their peers but were still identifiable.
Rant aside. As far as this album is concerned, it is for me possibly their best work (it is the best one I've listened top to bottom). This is just one of those works that while not perfect, I have found myself replaying every so often. It has reached the point where I might have gone through the album 6-7 times already.
Track consistency is very good (almost no dips detected). From the more hard rock tracks like Hysteria to the more ballad like tracks as in something like Rulled by Secrecy this album basically never misses a beat.
This for me is not only one of the band best, but one of the best albums of the 00s, from a band at their creative peak. A band that still had a lot of flame and motivation inside them, even if they would close the decade without much of it left (Maybe. It is difficult to find the motivation behind "Will of The People").
