The way this band showed so much promise at the start only to get duller and duller each step of the way following "The Resistance" is hard to explain. How? How do you lose the essence that made you unique. This band always had similarities to some of their peers but were still identifiable.
Rant aside. As far as this album is concerned, it is for me possibly their best work (it is the best one I've listened top to bottom). This is just one of those works that while not perfect, ... read more
Quite underrated dad rock jam. Continues my collection of songs to impress les boomers. "The King Will Come" and "Throw Down the Sword" are bops.
This album... This album...
It is just perfection. If moodiness had to be an album this would be it.
From the awesome instrumentation, to the great samples to Beth Gibbons' voice. Everything is so... well... (almost) perfect...
The turntable like static hissing fits great with the sound of this album, giving the album a subtle warmth.
While I consider it closer to a 9/10 than a 10/10 due to not really having the same attachment to tracks like "It Could Be Sweet" and ... read more
Very very very average...
Some tracks try their hardest to break you free of the monotony of this album but the next track brings you back to the realty of this being as average as it is.
Also, how did they mess up the lyrics. " We are fucking fucked " is just a really bad hook.
I went in not expecting much due to seeing the reviews on this and I was still really disappointed.
Maybe I could say that "Kill Or Be Killed" to " Euphoria " are pretty ok but not much ... read more
Quite the good record. Not the best Post Punk record but still very strong.
It is though one of those records that the most popular tracks are the best ones.
While this is not perfect and has some songs I could describe as "inessential" it still has some of the bands best work.
Musically at least this is their peak as a band. Songs like "Ramble Tamble" and "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" are brilliant.
The first one might be the bands best. Big thumbs up.
I will start this by of course saying that like all other reviews I have too played Minecraft since at least 2015, having fun with friends playing together in a small TV on PS3. How 3 of us could play split screen on that thing I don't know. So of course I am biased. These songs are burned to my memory.
So trying to take my bias out of the equation. This is one of the best soundtracks, no, one of the best works of ambient music out there. The instrumentation is beautiful and full of ... read more
Thank you Robert Smith for showing that creativity and passion does not have to be filtered out as the years go on.
There have been a good amount of artists to be praised for their work in their older years. People like Rush, Judas Priest and Roger Waters pre DSOTM Redux come to mind. But it is very rare for such artists to release some of their best material 45 years after their first album.
This album sounds like a darker version of the "Disintegration" sound and while the mixing ... read more
This is Pink Floyd's second album with David Gilmour as leader and I can say it definitely is better than "A Momentary Lapse of Reason. It is actually much much better. For the most part this 1994 album has dropped the 80s cheese and is an actual well produced record. While again not reaching the brilliance of their Waters era work, except maybe for "The Final Cut" it still has some worthwhile songs. "What do you want from me" is really good, "Marooned" ... read more
Going from a Waters solo album to a Gilmour one, and to be honest, damn is this pretty underwhelming.
Still above average in the grander scheme of things, but this is such a downgrade compared to even "The Final Cut". Never would I believe that cheesy, dated and Pink Floyd would ever be in the same paragraph but here we are. An 80s album with an 80s sound and with so little notable moments that I could count them with my fingers. Every good track has another 2 to 3 after it that are ... read more
In my opinion the best of the MTV Unplugged albums.
The choice of songs is really good for an accoustic setting and just the fact that it opens with "Nutshell" makes it really good.
I always believed that for accoustic guitar grunge songwriting works really well, and this record definitely lives up to that belief.
It is a really solid album
"Tomorrow" is the best song on the record pretty easily, although I do believe the whole alboum to be good
The alboum is though better in it's first half
Still a worthwhile listen and pretty overlooked in the grand scheme of things
Idk,it is not as bad as I expected, some songs are good to great even
"Who's Got My Back?" is very good, but the whole album mostly goes from slightly above mid to quite ok, and there are not many good to great songs
It is painfuly forgettable most times. Not bad. Inoffensive. But still not that great.
Album art really does suck tho. Shit makes no sence.
Actually a strong record
In short "Fool's Overture" is best but the wonderful "Downstream" is not that far behind
Though the whole album is quality
Strong lyrics and beautiful instrumentation throughout
P.S. Why does Supertamp have such great album covers?
If you are expecting something very much different to his work with Pink Floyd you are not going to find it here.
It is not a DSOTM Redux type album at all (a tad maybe, Roger still tends to like to speak sometimes).
This is very reminiscent of works like "The Wall" or "The Final Cut" and damn does it work here.
I found this album randomly from listening "Déjà Vu" which I still believe to be the best track, but this record is solid throughout.

A good album overall but one that is almost carried by 3 out of the 8 songs, those being Tuesday's Gone, Simple Man and Free Bird
Those 3 songs are great and I Ain't the One is good but the other 4 go from pretty good to meh
But I still think that it is a worthwhile record. These 4 songs make it more than worthwhile.
According to my lawyer Free Bird is the one that I should say is best, but Simple Man is actually the one I prefer
Great album
A great performance from Kendrick and the beats are soooo good
The couple of tracks where there is a beat change it is done so well that it elevates the tracks, especially SAMIDOT (the part after the beat change is the best part of the song IMO)
Talking about SAMIDOT it really is the best track on the album
