this album is absolutely overflowing with personality, artistic talent, and authenticity as she touches on her personal life and what goes on behind the scenes of her music. my only issue with the album is that the songs are so short and the songs feel somewhat unfinished at times. however, the catchiness of the songs really do make up for it! overall, amazing work doechii, from someone who primarily listens to rock, you've really captured my attention!
most of the points go to string of hearts and vanilla. 100/100 songs omg theyre freaking amazing.
jellifish and fishing around aren't super amazing, but its more of a personal preference—the quality of the song is fine!!
before i start, i want to bring attention to the cover art. look at how pretty that is. ITS SO PRETTY.
alright anyhow, the composition of the songs is really good!! they do a wonderful job with their instruments and the accompaniment is well done.
the vocals take some getting used to, honestly, as the mixing isn't great on them, but it adds a charming feel to the album that separates it from a lot of other japanese shoegaze bands. the vocals remind me a lot of the band "shinsei ... read more
i like fun instruments used in this album! most of the points go to track 7 of this album, "いろはにほへと". the songs are good but that is SO GOOD. super catchy and has a unique feel and composition that i haven't ever seen before. i also like the contrasts and how dynamic the songs are, as it helps the song progress and not fall flat. sheena ringo is extremely talented!!
this is such a beautifully crafted ep and the talent yaelokre possesses is absolutely incredible. the art they make for these characters and story is really pretty!!
onto the music—this ep is extremely immersive and the characters they create through different voices is such a nice touch honestly. i didn't know which voice belonged to who, but once i got the hang of it, it made the ep ten times more enjoyable. i've never seen anything like this before, where one person can so ... read more
the composition of the instruments was great and by far my favorite part of the album. i just felt that the screamo-esque vocals were holding back the album due to it being limited in both range/pitch, which makes it not only hard to create a melody that sticks, but also how much emotion can be shown through vocals.
however, i feel that with time, the vocals will grow on me! i just personally enjoy diversity and dynamics in songs and too much screamo can at times make the album as a whole ... read more
loved the blend of different genres and how fun some of the songs are. loved how each song explores different aspects of genres such as garage and jazz, making the album feel fuller and not as flat. definitely see some influences of k-pop in certain songs! i did not love the cut off in the song insommnia while she was in the middle of singing and it abruptly ends.
overall an AMAZING album. i relisten to this album and/or tracks from this album nearly every day. i enjoy the loudness of it all and how it incorporates some elements of shoegaze and garage punk/rock into it. the melodies she manages to create are both catchy and unique on its own, and the songs themselves have great dynamics—they don't stay the exact same throughout, which i love.
something i wasn't particularly fond of was the yelling/talking parts in some of the songs. ... read more
great album from hail the sun as usual! i really enjoy the unique sound that this band brings to the post-hardcore scene, and this album did not disappoint in continuing to bring that same one-of-a-kind sound. i also liked the way that all the tracks have a nice transition between each other, and the transition between solipsism and misfire is my favorite. the vocals and production quality are outstanding and i highly recommend this album to anyone wanting to get a feel for hail the ... read more
