While better then the bands previous work the album does also suffer from the same lack of originality, the band ups its production value on this album and the songs do genuinely feel more fun making for a better listening experience, the band tries new things here which is almost always a good thing.

The album does have some fun songs and is generally inoffensive, however it also doesnt bring anything new to the table, there are some stand out songs and this first effort does show promise for future projects.

Brand New took a massive unannounced break for eight years without an album, while we did get the odd singles here and there with 'I Am A Nightmare' being a nice surprise and what we thought would be a look into their next album. Science Fiction is not like 'I Am A Nightmare' it starts off slow and takes its time, SF is an album that acts as Brand News departure as we are more then likely to never see a brand new project from the band.
