Geordie Greep - The New Sound

This kind of heavy, math rock, jazzy style with pretentious vocals doesn't do it for me. It's very deliberate and technically superb but what's the point if it's not listenable. Lovely passages are followed by horrible ones. I really don't think i'm going to want to come back to this.

I guess I appreciate the experimentation but the best records are fundamentally listenable too. I guess Squid are much more to my taste than Black Midi or BCNR.

Even better with the extended tracklist

Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool

The problem with this record is that whilst I don't hate any of the tracks and it's pretty consistent, there is not one track i'm obsessed with either.

The Smile - Wall of Eyes

It might be another grower which you can often find with Thom Yorke/ Radiohead projects but can't help but be disappointed here. It's slow paced, safe and too similar to AMSP (which is not my favourite Radiohead record) with its orchestral elements which I think should have run their course in their music by now.
