Blur - For Tomorrow
77

FOR TOMORROW:
For Tomorrow is lead single from Blur's sophomore album "Modern Life is Rubbish". FT was released on 19 April 1993, and reached #28 in the UK singles charts. It was written by a depressed and drunk Damon Albarn in his parents' home in Colchester on Christmas Eve. Damon's father woke up on Christmas morning to his son playing the song we now know as FT on the family piano. FT was one of the final songs to be recorded for MLIR and was only included on the album after David ... read more

Blur - Popscene
72

POPSCENE:
The start of the Britpop revolution, and a great, fast-paced song to boot. Popscene, as the title suggests, is about flaws within the music industry. I feel like this song should have been included on Modern Life is Rubbish. Due to its poor chart placement, Popscene did not feature on MLIR, with Graham Coxon saying something along the lines of "if they didn't want it then, they're not fucking having it now" (possibly not the exact quote). I still want to know how Damon does ... read more

Pulp - After You
60

Unfortunately, it seems Jarvis & crew have lost their lipgloss over the years.

Pulp - Party Clowns (Live In London 1991)
70

If you ask me, Separations is Pulp's worst record. Luckily, for this live album/show they've managed to pick the best Separations era tracks (minus My Legendary Girlfriend). A decent live album

Pulp - The Peel Sessions
79

An interesting look through Pulp's past live performances. A stand-out previously unreleased is 'Turkey Mambo Momma' which is a great song, especially for early Pulp. All in all, a good live album.

Pulp - Hits
80

A great compilation. Not much else to say about it. At least it's not just old tracks like most of the previous Pulp compilations.

Pulp - We Love Life
69

Seems like a more dialed down version of This is Hardcore with more of a fantasy edge.

Pulp - On Fire
65

On fire? No, not really.

Pulp - Goes to the Disco
56

The next time Pulp go to the disco, they better bring some better tracks.

This is Hardcore is a prime example of the cocaine fueled excess that ended britpop. Not that that's a completely bad thing, like with Oasis' 'Be Here Now'. Great songs like Sylvia and The Day After the Revolution are unfortunately somewhat marred by the somewhat grating Party Hard and Seductive Barry, which is 8 minutes of boredom disguised as seduction.

Pulp - Different Class
86

A quintessential Britpop record comparable to Blur's 'Parklife' from the previous year. Jarvis Cocker's hits the nail on the head with his relatable and comedic lyrics. Anthems like Common People and Disco 2000 still remembered fondly to this day. Underated tracks like Underwear and Bar Italia which could have been singles in their own rights. An all around classic album.

Pulp - Masters of the Universe
65

I don't know why Pulp released so many compilations of their earlier material. Some good tracks like chilling 'The Will to Power' and the down-tempo 'They Suffocate at Night', but all in all nothing special.

Pulp - His 'n' Hers
85

A huge step forward for the band. An all around brilliant record.

Pulp - Razzmatazz
73

Great song with mainly decent b-sides

Pulp - Babies
65

Great song let down somewhat by some of it's b-sides, namely Sheffield Sex City and it's instrumental.

Pulp - Separations
61

A step in the wrong direction for the soon to be Britpop stars.
