The combo of frequent Jesus references and a lone feature from Miranda Lambert set off my MAGA alarm bells, and whattaya know, Ella Langley was recently announced to be playing at Kid Flop's Rock the Country. To express disappointment in a way that would most offend her, god fucking dammit.
Should've known it was too good to be true, because unfortunately, this album is very good. Absolutely one of the best in mainstream country for the last several years with some strong ... read more
Before: "I like the first two tracks a lot, surely there's one or two other gems on here."
After listening: "I like the first two tracks a lot."
It is a truly remarkable feeling to be less than halfway through an album and think, "This could very well end up as one of my favourite albums of all time", and then have every remaining track reinforce that thought. This version made me love the tracks I already liked and like the tracks I was "meh" on. A shame this wasn't the proper release given its universal superiority over the gutted version.
BEST TRACKS: End of an Era, Houdini, Training Season, Whatcha Doing, French Exit, Illusion, Maria, Happy for You
WORST TRACK: Anything for Love
The title track is, without question, one of the best songs I've heard in my life.
