I think this is overall a decent tape with inconsistencies. Some issues with these lila projects that i have been seeing are mentioning bad mixing choices, i personally think sometimes the mixing can enhance the vibes, as it goes well with this hectic release schedule that she has adopted. But sometimes it can actually cause problems. And while lila has improved her rapping significantly, her flows in certain pockets of the record can still come off as very all over the place, though that is ... read more
A bit too skeletal for my taste, but overall a cool listen
The synthscape sounds beautiful and the transition is great as well! I just hoped the song would develop more after the transition. Oh and the cover art is beautiful
Back when plague 2 dropped, i knew how good lila could be behind the boards, as a producer, but my main gripe with it was that alot of the times her rapping wasn't up to par with her skills as a producer. And I'm glad i was right because give me some grace, I'm trying my best is a great improvement on her last record. Both in terms of production and rapping.
Now, in contrast to plague 2, this album has a pretty scant feature list, basically no one except for nico rainforth, who ... read more
This is friggin awesome!!!!! The drums sounds amazing and take up a lot of space in the mix while the synths glide under the grooves. It has a teeny tiny bit of 2000s influence, and i think i like this more than the previous single with afterlife slave! Looking forward to the project :)
I think its a pretty great little track, the synths that come in halfway through are really catchy and it maintains a great vibe overall
I personally don't think it provides anything interesting. It's pretty derivative but without having the edge and sonic experimentation that alot of rage beats have. It's not that it's horrible, but it doesn't go anywhere. It's just sticking to a very boring and bland sound pallette without any development. This doesn't provide the chaotic nature of many rage beats rn neither does this have the melodic components that make digicore inspired Rage beats ... read more
This has pretty cool sounds, textures and melodies overall, but i don't think it comes together to create something coherent, memorable or interesting
I like the second half way more because of the pay off, what leads to it isn't that interesting in my opinion, but it still creates an atmosphere
I expected a bit more from the first single, but i still overall like the tarck! ALSO AFTERLIFE SLAVE FEATURE?????? TAKE MY MONEY PLEASE. Anyways, i really fuck with the atmosphere of the song and the drum and bass flavour that laces the track halfway through it's runtime. Looking forward to the project.
Smelly brown fella review
Uhhh i really like this ep. It's just 12 minutes, but it's memorable. Every track on here (yes, even the 30 second one) is enjoyable. Most songs feature punchy and to the point production. It's very direct, super tight and intentionally kind of messy emotionally and sonically. Besides the production, HMI also offers great rapping and autocrooning, and just really amazing performances at points. The last track does the good ol sad song after angy songs ... read more
Rapping could be way tighter on the first track, and the lyrics on the second track lack depth and personality. Even if i do agree with a lot of what's being said, it Just comes off as a bunch of general surface level observations without any personal and artistic perspective
I like the poem, i don't understand it fully, but i like it quite a bit, and the stuff surrounding it is also pretty cool
