Banger after banger after banger.
My only complain is I wish some songs were a bit less sparse and with a more compact structure
Also wondering who would have been miles better had it included the unreleased MJ bridge
Off the Wall gives us Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones taking disco to its highest point at the end of the disco era. Burning the disco out by making it impossible to top.
It is a beautiful chaotic mess in the best way possible. Wildly disparate styles, ideas that shouldn’t coexist somehow do. Yet it all feels inevitable, as if the album could only exist in this exact form.
Tamper with the eclectic sequencing, and you’d only end up with a weaker album than the perfectly paced record that already exists.
The inner machinations of the white album are an enigma, but they somehow work as if it was destined to be that way.
Haunting. This record makes me feel things I didn't experience before.
