Beach House Deep Dive: Part 4
Beach House manages once again to deliver a beautifully serene album that makes it hard to not be hypnotized into a peaceful state. It seriously feels like they've found their sound at this point and manage to cement it, taking their sound and simplifying it. The layers of instrumentation and smooth vocals send you into a state of pure bliss and relaxation. Beach House is an artist whose sonic world can only be truly understood when listened to at night, ... read more
gosh.........
well, to start i guess, Preacher man's instrumental is pretty incredible. Especially the outro. My first thoughts were that this might actually be decent, and then the vocals kick in. Obnoxious to say the least. Probably ai as others were also pointing out.
Beauty and The Beast is pretty great though. It's the one snippet that I still occasionally play, and this ep version didn't really change anything from what I remember about the snippet. It's only one ... read more
Beach House Deep Dive: Part 2
I honestly don’t have much more to add than in my review of their debut (which you should check out it’s a literary masterpiece). It sticks to the same simplistic formula that sets them apart from the rest of the genre. Although I do think that the songwriting displayed here is a big step up from their debut (Heart of Chambers is a good example here). The instrumentation also feels more interesting.
But I do think it falls into some of the pitfalls ... read more
Beach House Deep Dive: Part 1
Although in all honesty, I’ve already listened to the first three beach house projects. So I’m a bit of a liar about the deep dive. But I AM going to go through each of their albums from the beginning in order, first to last, starting at their self titled album. Which is pretty dang great!
This album is really mesmerizing and calming. Partly due to how simple every track is, which usually consists of a simple drum pattern, a synth, a piano/guitar, ... read more
This is one of the greatest songs of all time. The odd and nasally vocals may take some time to get acquainted to—and I understand, it did for me as well. But once you do, you’ll realize the true enchanting beauty of this song.
The intro is just so perfect, the incredibly composed instrumentation, which moves forward effortlessly, becoming a simple backing track while the vocals take the center stage. Slowly building up to the gigantic euphoric chorus which is the second best ... read more
bro I want to inject the beginning of the third track straight into my veins
some very good jazz rock here, which is a genre I'm not too familiar with, but it sounds pretty awesome! It's definitely a genre that ima check out more of.
This album sounds all over the place, never really letting you get comfortable in a particular mood. Sometimes it's really REALLY energetic like the beginning of the third track, definitely my favorite track, gosh darn I love that energy! And ... read more
It's not terrible... But there is very little to latch onto here. Beauty and the Beast was one song that I've been listening to since the first snippet, and it's pretty good here too. Besides that the rest of the album feels very unfinished and empty. I get that it's a demo though but I honestly don't have faith in the finished version.
There's a couple great songs in the mix, such as TRUE LOVE, 530 and WE DID IT are pretty amazing. Other than that, there are very few standouts. The closer, LORD LIFT ME UP, and CITY OF GOD are pretty good. But then there are some of the worst kanye songs here too. GET LOST is garbage. It's just autotuned vocals with mediocre lyrics. There is genuinely nothing else to the song. LOUIE BAGS is unfathomably boring. and HAPPY feels like it drags on too long despite only being three and a ... read more
I think it's safe to say that this is the album of the year.
This is insane for a debut for the both of them. The flows on this thing are great and the rapping sounds so hungry. John Michel flows effortlessly on these beats. Speaking of which, I know everyone is talking about this, but wow, the production is insane! Some of the most well produced instrumentals that I've ever heard on any rap album period. Anthony James did a great job making very detailed and full instrumentals ... read more
This is 35 minutes of pure entrancing dream pop. I like to listen to this album when I’m having trouble sleeping. It doesn’t send me to sleep, but it feels so magical to listen to this album late at night in bed. I think they capture the calming, aquatic atmosphere so well and in such a smooth way.
My cat loves this album
Beach House Deep Dive: Part 3
This one is quite a step up from their previous albums, which considering how good I thought those were means that this album is fantastic. It feels so pristine and well produced, and, of course, dreamy. The hooks are so damn catchy. The instrumentation is so dang clean. The vocals are so beautiful and hypnotic. I’m a sucker for dream pop but this album especially will be in my rotation for a while.
I honestly wasn’t expecting to enjoy this one since I didn’t really enjoy their last album, but this one’s pretty great! I enjoy the new singers voice way more than the previous, and the songs are just a lot more enjoyable.
While I’m not completely blown away, I do like the new road they’re taking.
Very solid album. While it's not quite my type of thing I did enjoy the many standout moments of this album. I think it dragged on a bit too long, but it manages to stay consistently great throughout the entire runtime.
It's actually crazy how painfully boring this album is. It's completely devoid of anything interesting or redeemable. Or at least that's would say if BOMB wasn't the greatest song of ALL TIME. 10/10 kanye did it again
God these songs makes me feel so happy.
I originally came into this album only knowing Semi-Charmed Life and Jumper, as they have been two of my favorite songs for as long as I could remember. So I was pleasantly surprised when the rest of the album was filled with similarly hard hitting and fun bangers, some of which were even better than the ones i knew! Seriously, this album is back-to-back quality, and doesn't really have a weak moment. These tracks are definitely gonna be in my ... read more
MUSIC WILL NEVER BE THE SAME
nah but in all seriousness its meh. I'm glad i didn't stay up for this
In Your Languages is a fantastic album. I absolutely love how dreamy and shoegazey this album feels whilst still being energetic and fun, resulting in a very engaging experience that consistently executes great ideas.
The only weak point on this album in my opinion is the shortest song, Stove Song. It feels a bit dull, and it doesn’t really add anything to this album. But this albums makes up for it by having the next three tracks be absolute bangers. Especially Whenever, Whatever, my ... read more
