I’ll start by saying this is my favourite album ever, I’m a firm believer that every second on this 80~ minute thing is needed. The instrumentation on this album is completely jaw dropping and the song writing is awe inspiring. From spiralling and tense builds to the swelling explosions of the crescendos, this album can be considered wholly perfect. A lot of this album surprised me. It’s quite experimental for its genre, with lots of electronic drones and noise passages. There’s much more distortion and fuzz on this album than on aeroplane, but it’s not the same level as energetic that aeroplane reaches. The melodies also aren’t as good as aeroplane, but I would argue that the horns are just as, if not better. Great album.
Such a strange sounding album. Every lyric on this thing is so absurd and shouldn’t work, but in the context of the songs, it works surprisingly well. The production here is also superb, everything is so tight and claustrophobic. There’s not much more to say about this album, the instrumentation is all over the place so it’s hard to define one key characteristic. The opening song is easily my favourite track, it’s weirdly danceable and just so manic.
