feels like ariana’s attempt at making a new “we can’t be friends”. kind of repetitive, meaning i likely won’t listen to it much. i do love that she incorporated the sound waves from a flower into the actual instrumental.
the introductory tracks to the album are great; sonically diverse and up-tempo, but the project loses some connection just after the second half. the lower energy tracks after 101 and before freak it feel out of place in this otherwise upbeat album. the cover art is very pretty and matches most of the songs well.

great representation of the instability of life, showcasing both highs and lows will equal honesty and raw vocals. great standout tracks, which unfortunately cause some other tracks to fall behind in picking a song to listen to day-to-day. cool album cover with a great meaning.

i almost never listened to this album, but the boyfriend made me, and i’m very glad he did. coming into my first listen, i had only heard crank and old technology. i was pleasantly surprised when the rest of the project held up the high standards she set with those songs. worst girl in america is a proof of concept that gritty vocals and hard dance instrumentals can work coherently. the album cover perfectly showcases exactly what this body of work has to offer.

harry had big boots to fill after his three-album run of hits. however, this album feels like he mistakenly thought he no longer had to try his best. compared to his other works, the vocals and lyrics feel somewhat lazy too often to be ignored. with that being said, there are some great highlights in terms of instrumentals.
i have nothing nice to say about the album cover, so i will say nothing at all.
best:
1. taste back
2. dance no more
3. american girls
still riding the high of silence between songs, i was expecting big things from madison beer’s third album “locket”. unfortunately, this project feels like a creative step back from her sophomore. though there are some stand-out tracks, a few of them don’t hold weight by themselves and become boring after a couple listens at most. however, madison does have a generationally amazing voice, and clearly a knack for picking great album covers.

despite the recent trend of trying to emulate an 80’s sound, vie by doja cat still stands out as one of the most powerful pieces of work in that realm through electric instrumentals and her signature witty lyricism. i can listen to this album front-to-back without getting bored. this album feels miles ahead compared to her other (still amazing) works like scarlet and amala. easily her best album.

absolute masterclass on how to create an entire world around a sonic piece. each song tells one part of a story that strings together in the full project, which is held up with powerful lyricisms and beautiful, diverse instrumentals. raye is proving with this project that she is officially here to stay. the album cover is exactly what these songs emulate.
best:
1. i know you’re hurting
2. winter woman
3. happier times ahead
i defend cupcakke’s lyricism to everybody i speak to, and this album solidifies her ability to write amazing bars. songs like rubik’s cube and akeelah prove that cupcakke doesn’t NEED to use sexuality to create a hit, it’s just her chosen lane.
best:
1. ballerina coupe
2. alcoholic
3. akeelah
snarky commentary on social climate with earnest lyrics and thoughts hidden between the audacious statements. somewhat lacking cohesion throughout the album due to the extreme variety of sounds (country on “as long as i got you” to dubstep on “url badman”) but a welcome variety nonetheless. album cover has great colours, and i like the nod to queen elizabeth and her corgis.
five points taken only for L8 CMMR and title track.

each song generates the same feeling inside of this music being from a whimsical alternate dimension, which is exactly the goal abby set out to create — the feeling of childlike joy, naivety, and sadness to grow up. perfectly captured in songs like paracosm & simple things. 10/10 album cover.

lily allen’s sheezus can never be topped, but if anything were to come close, it would be this album. each song is beautifully made, backed by lyrics that are spoken more like a story than an album. great album cover.

exceptionally strong debut album. concise, honest lyricism backed by pretty instrumentals makes the entire project a great listen. very diverse between songs with enough cohesion to make each song fit in. great album cover.

with the amount of singles in the same style sonically as each other i hoped for some diversity in the album tracks. and while i did enjoy the rest of the songs, there is a noticeable lack of diversity when compared to the good witch (having songs like coming of age and bsc) which leaves this album feeling a little same-y. in moderation, these songs could’ve been great, but the entire album being the same sound left me feeling a bit bored around mid way through. album cover represents the ... read more
