Unfortunately, I didn’t get the hype around this album. Although generally inoffensive and pleasant to the ear. Hit me hard and soft fails to leave any lasting impressions on me. Its soft whispery vocals and muddled production blends many of the weaker tracks together. It seems that billie eilish has forgotten what made her unique and special as an artist. Where does one even start with an album like in rainbows….. this is not only my favourite album of all time, it is also undeniably the best album of all time. In rainbows sees Radiohead truly diving into a more personal and intimate soundscape and concept. Outside of the immersive and dark atmosphere of the album, there’s not much to gain from this album. Pixelated kiss is a great opener and introduces us to a new version of joji. This is however futile as the first half is full of ideas that are interesting that are cut short and not fully developed due to short duration or songs that are too focused on somber and emotional vibes without any interesting substance, progression or production to make the songs appealing. Manchild was definitely worse than espresso as a first single. Although the song itself features good vocals, decent songwriting and witty lyrics. The country pop production direction of this track does not entirely convince me. The jumbled and ramble chorus with violins, guitars and synths not only sound a bit messy but also derivative of the country pop craze and revival we are witnessing. Sonically and from a production perspective, ruby is cohesive but not monotonous. Unlike her other groupmates, jennie explores different genres and production directions ranging from pop, r&b, hyperpop, afrobeats, dance music and hip pop.
