I mean fuck yeah, an amazing deluxe with some really funky and smooth RnB to one of last years best records honestly. The only thing I dislike is that they put the deluxe songs infront of the normal tracks which feels kind of odd as the original intro is now treated like any other song, I would have prefered them being added to the end of the tracklist or something like a Disk 2.
I feel like this album isn't made for people who like jazz, this album is made for people who LOVE jazz. So many creative and abstract ideas yet everything stays coherent. The outro is a bit of a sleeper though, which unfortunately drags the experience down a bit.
As I am deep in my proper Michael Jackson phase - which many are at the moment, I have decided to go back to this album and my thoughts have changed. This went from a nice successor to Thriller to the second best MJ album for me, surpasing Thriller. This album isn't just 80s as fuck, it has so many catchy highlights. Songs like Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Another Part of Me, Man In The Mirror are all absolute highlights. Dirty Diana and Smooth Criminal have been played too much in my ... read more
This album is so much fun and you can feel how much fun he had while making it. A young Michael Jackson shows off amazing vocal performances in a charmful manner and sets the vibe for these songs of which each one just makes you want to dance at a disco. Sadly this type of energy in discos and music in general is long gone at this point.
This album is fucking insane. I liked the singles but it felt like JPEGMAFIA could paint himself into a corner on this album, especially because it's 25 tracks long. But fuck no, this album is absolutely crazy and it doesn't get boring at any moment because before it could even get boring it's already over.
