During this time period, we were getting Wayne's best work. This wasn't one of them. This was supposed to be the time where he "outrapped everyone on their own song" and was the "best rapper alive". How can his prime be considered the best when he was projects like this and Rebirth coming out in this said prime? Wayne is still an elite rapper with tapes like the Carter 2 and Dedication 2 but there is a bit of misses when it comes to his "prime" run.
It may be the G-Unit Bias for me but this album is phenomenal. This is one of those debut albums that lives up to the hype. Lloyd Banks shows a lot of versatility on this album, with more commercial songs like Karma and On Fire, and really shows his lyricism on Playboy and Work Magic. Really enjoyable album here.
Your introduction to Lloyd Banks on a solo project. He does not disappoint with this one with his. He shows his underrated lyricism that we still see today.
This mixtape does not get enough credit for being one the trendsetter for this format of mixtape. Has great verses over classic beats and you get an introduction to Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks. G-Unit perfected this format of mixtape and shouldnt be forgorren
I find this album to be overhated. Fans wanted him to rap over more commercial production, he does it and they say he sold out. You get great songs with Nas is Like, undying love, and NY state of mind 2. There are some underrated jams on here like you wont see me tonight and we will survive. I don't really get the criticism of this album.
Most slept on album in Nas catalog. The first nas album I listened to in full was Life as Good and has aged incredibly. I find myself going back to this a ton and enjoying it like I did when I first heard this.
This album tends to get overlooked in Nas catalog and in discussions for one of the best rap albums of all time. My personal all time favorite album and definitely competes with Illmatic. I gave you power, the message and street dreams are all easily top 10 nas songs for me. I Gave you power doesnt get talked about enough for being one of the most creative and socially conscious songs of all time.
