The appeal of punchy, loud rock music is really captured best in live gigs and festivals --- I know I'd have a blast feeling the energy of the mosh, dancing to a band like this. However, the genre tends to get pretty mid reviews as there's not much to sink your teeth into, listening to the album as is. Makes me wanna go out, touch grass and see more live music though for sure!
Websites like AOTY, together with the ease of streaming can really make unknown artists known (sometimes). Statistically, the best album ever is hidden in Spotify with a few thousand plays and I'll never hear it. This new Richard Sallis makes me think about all the great music that won't ever see the wider audience it deserves --- I'll think about that next time I waste time listening to a big artist's latest dogshit album (think Taylor Swift, Tame Impala, Drake)

This album captures that "American Gothic" vibe of the American country I'll never understand and thankfully only ever experience through media. But somehow, I'll still romanticise the concept after watching movies like History of Sound, First Cow & Brokeback Mountain. It makes me want to go camping, catch fish and contemplate God.
I wrote this guy off for the longest time, assuming he's another Morgan Wallen / Luke Combs, so I'm glad I gave it a chance.
Grinning like the dude on the left with the sunnies on --- I feel like I'm back in 2018 hearing ASAP rap again. I got a gut feeling we're gonna hear more good quality trap this year for a change.
Highlights: No Trespassing / Stop Snitching / Robbery
Bobby Noss teased this at his Melbourne show in July 2024 and the crowd loved it - keeping it unreleased for a year must take so much restraint god DAMN. Enough playing with us, YOU CAN RELEASE THE ALBUM NOW (please)
Maybe it's recency bias, but this might be my favourite of the new singles.
So full of whimsy and merriment - I'm brimming with joy listening to this! Everything great about Cacophony is built upon here, picking up what he did on Clair de Lune 2 and The Real Thing and continuing the same happy, bittersweet vibes. The score could be higher given more dynamic production/mixing, which the guy actually touches on on his Bandcamp page, but omg what a cute album and concept anyway. Gumshoes needs more recognition.

Listening to this shite on the hottest day of the year with no aircon, and I can feel myself contracting full-on brain rot. HexD is just so grating and unpleasant, I don't think I'll ever understand it. Kudos to those who can find beauty in the dissonance of all this, I'll think I'll just admit I've become a boomer and stop giving new things a go lol
I LOVE LEAN I LOVE LEAN I LOVE LEAN I LOVE LEAN
Not wanting to be too bitter, I just really don't get why this is highly rated. It's an interesting mixture of sounds, I'll give it that, but the lyrics are just pure slop man, I'm sorry
Okay songs: Worst Me, One Chance
I love this so goddamn much. The way it's structured into 3 distinct acts with 2 minute interludes improves the album's flow so well. Honestly more artists should split their albums into sections like this.
I've never heard an album so devoid of personality in my life. Future is incapable of doing anything but boasting about his life and it gets tedious quick
"YOU HAVE TO SEPARATE THE ART FROM THE ARTIST" πππ
I ain't doing that. Shut up. Kanye is no longer just the rude, obnoxious guy he used to be - that was at least somewhat defensible. Since then, he's spiralled into a disgusting, hateful creep, soiling his reputation and thriving on negative attention more than ever. Other reviews on here list all the unforgivable shit he's done so I'm not listing them, but by GOD there's long lists out there.

Although retreading plenty of the same ground as the last one, Wall of Eyes is an upgrade! We got ballads (1 & 8) - we got beautiful buildups & swells (2 & 7) - we got time signatures (5 & 6) - and most of all, we got Jonny's jinky ass guitar noodling (3 & 4)... think Identikit or Thin Thing.
From the singles, I feared it'd be a little subdued, but we were served up a good feast, with quality album pacing and musical variety you expect from Thommy, Jonny and that other guy
How can you create an album this πΈππ, then legitimately think "other people will want to hear this". Also I swear to god he's saying BUSSY in Morning After. 1/10
This reminds me a lot of The Dear Hunter. It's one of those albums where every track is spectacularly arranged and instrumentally interesting, but listening to a whole hour of it is a bit overwhelming.
I loved this! It felt totally unique in a familiar way - something about the distinct, memorable melodies and how oddly crisp every instrument sounds. I was actually grinning at times from how great the songwriting is.
Best: Cacophony / The Real Thing / Clair De Line 2 / Last Living Kennedy
Least: One Fine Specimen / The Puppet Waltz
Absolutely masterful experience. I haven't heard an album that's pulled me in so quickly and kept me captivated from start to finish since Dogsbody or Ants from Up There - especially from a band I've never heard of before. Rating might go down, but even from the first impressions, it's solid stuff. Keen to check out their other stuff now.
You know that meme where Jeremy Clarkson points to 2 cars and goes "this is brilliant... but I LIKE THIS"
That's how I feel about Famously Alive. Yeah the old Guerilla Toss fucks hard, but the new Guerilla Toss ... *chef's kiss* ππ―
One of the albums of all time. Contains some of the songs ever. Yellow Swans is one of the bands in the world.
