I think I appreciate this a lot more than I like it. I’ll start off by saying the production is really good, a lot of the beats are really good albeit repetitive. That’s where my issues start to grow with this album because I don’t always hate repetitive beats (I just loved Burning Desire which had a little repetitive beats) but that’s only when the lyricism can shine. I think Chris Hamilton is a great lyricist I just think I don’t like his lyrics. The flows just ... read more
Kinda everything I could ever want in an album and still only 20 minutes. I also did not realize this was the “Grown Man Sport” sample origin so I loved hearing that
Such a completely enthralling album with every aspect of it being so overwhelming. The production is out of this world with its unique qualities not feeling unnatural, the weird time signatures perfectly match the cryptic storytelling perfectly. Speaking of the storytelling is some of the best I’ve heard in music with a perfect balance between mysterious and comprehensive. The final track “Good Morning, Capitan” being a masterpiece in both instrumentation and lyricism. One of ... read more
Pretty solid but a lot of these tracks just blend together for me. Not really any memorable tracks or moments so it just leaves me kind of meh. Even though there were tracks I did like they were bogged down by repetitive production. Not super interesting
Sooooooo fun and cute. Kinda not really much to say about it except it’s really good. It’s just so fun and compact and I love everything about it.
Vocals weren’t my favorite thing for some tracks, the more subdued performances didn’t match the insane production style all the time but I also have a hard time understanding lyrics in general so it’s probably just me. Other than that this album is sooooo good, the industrial production style is great and a kind I really love. The more screamy vocal songs were so my speed and even the more interlude-y tracks were standout
I definitely appreciate this one more on a second listen, I did not like this nearly as much on my first listen. Love the production here, its uniqueness and the limited lyrics paint a vivid picture and do some great storytelling. Not much more I can say except “Neon Lights” being such a phenomenal track, definitely my favorite on the album
For being 20+ tracks there is a lot of consistency here with my only lowlights being some tracks where the repetitive production brought the song down for me. MIKE kills almost verse here with his soothing voice and laid back flow work perfectly on the 80s inspired beats. The features are also out of this world with Earls verse on plz don’t cut my wings being one of my favorites from him. So many standout tracks
I didn’t mess with the vocals for some of the tracks but other than that this album was incredible. Really solid old school Jazz Rap production and the flows were insane even if I don’t know the language. The choruses were also sooo catchy. Really good rap album and definitely worth a listen if you like A Tribe Called Quest, this projects most apparent influence
Such a beautiful album with every instrument and voice working in harmony to create a hypnotic feel. Ghazal is SO underrated
Such an underrated release from one of hip-hop’s best producers. Not only is the production top notch the verses match it well. The laidback flows from InI perfectly match the chill jazzy production so well leading to great chemistry between everyone working on this album. It’s only held back by some redundancy and a couple forgettable tracks
Beautiful album, one of Madlibs best produced with a clear Jazz theme through all the tracks. Jazz Rap at its finest
Such a good album, using the abstract production to it's benefit, the vocals and writing also complement the production style very well! Not a single bad track but that doesn't mean it has no slip ups
Somehow an improvement over the already great "SITO4_* (work From 2023-2025)" which is insane. Half of the tracks are standout with "HOLDING OUT CROSSES SO SOMEBODY SEES ME" and "UNTITLED 01" being some of my favorite songs of the year so far. I'm definitely looking forward to what Sito4_8 has in store for the future.
Can't deny it's a classic but the second half of this album just really drops off for me, at least until "Regrets". The first half is a generational run so it sucks to see it followed up with just some okay tracks. Definitely not Jay's best showing but a couple songs will remain at the top of his catalogue.
Really enjoyed this one even though it didn’t click with me as much as other emo projects I’ve heard. Definitely got a lot going for it though, the vocals are amazing, even while I can’t speak the language it’s still pretty emotional. I also love the production on most songs, a few a carried a hit hard by the vocals
Absolutely incredible. One of the of the most surprising first listens I've had, I like this style of music but since the project is so underground I had no idea what to expect. That final track might of one of the best songs of the decade
