this is honestly really beautiful. not only is it heartwarming to hear Daniel finally playing in a studio, but the songs here are genuinely nice despite being pretty straightforward, and they're oftentimes really pretty. I know im probably just saying this because my only previous Johnston album was Hi, How Are You, but his songwriting ability had improved by leaps and bounds here as well. Not that he was necessarily bad at it on albums prior, but these feel much more cohesive and more traditionally structured, which I'm guessing is what Daniel had wanted. RIP, I wish I could have been a fan while he was still around.
