Kingdom Of Giants picks up right where they left off as 'Bleeding Star' feels like a six track extension of their incredible 2020 'Passengers' release, as far as instrumentation goes. Their clean vox were not the best before, but really lack any edge now. After 4 years I was hoping for more.
Annoying vocals. It makes the otherwise everything else, that's very good, practically unlistenable.
This album would be better titled as 'Radical Mediocrity'. Of the two singles, I think I can speak for most people by saying we were hoping for an album of 'Houdini's, but we unfortunately got 9 more 'Training Season's :(
These five songs are pretty cool. I was surprised to learn that Ankor had been around for a while because their latest offering is so current and unique. I guess it took them a while to find their groove... and they did that in spades. This EP offers a stellar mix of metal with pop and electro influences while putting it all together with some truly fantastic arrangements. 'Venom' is a sonic step up.
Not quite as good as their previous two offerings, which is a bar set incredibly high, so... it's still pretty damn good. Some real heavy grooves to dig into here, and as expected at this point, a top tier vocal performance. Every band has their day and I can see the sun setting for this one, sadly. Enjoy the final run, it's been a good one.
The members of While She Sleeps were sitting down in the studio discussing ways to expand their sound into something new, something fresh. It was at that moment Fred Durst happened to walk through the door.
The opening track comes out blazing with the catchy and energetic 'Can't Tame Her'. Unfortunately, the rest of the album proves that sentiment to be false.
What I want in dance-pop: Big bass with basic beats that are huge in the mix, catchy melodies and over the top vocals/hooks, sprinkled with some cool instrumentation to float in-between. It may seem simplistic, but it's not easy to make something like that. Well, Empress Of decided that was too much effort and all too plebian, anyway, with 'For Your Consideration", so they made something else. Something that makes me want to turn my volume knob to about 4.
"And I make racks off compound interest"...
Sometimes they take the mask off, lol.
It's so hard to prioritize Tori albums because they are all great in their unique way, but here goes....
1) Scarlet's Walk
2) From The Choirgirl Hotel
3) Under The Pink
4) To Venus And Back
5) Little Earthquakes
6) Y Kant Tori Read
7) Boys For Pele
8) The Beekeeper
...and I'll stop there.
Fuck the haters, this album is fun and makes me wanna drive fast.
What "critics" rated this mess so high? This had me laughing at how bad it is, namely the vocals. The musicianship is okay, but that musicianship sounds like it was recorded on an 8 track I rented from L&M 20 years ago. This is a joke, right?...
If these 3 songs are any indication of their next full length release, then I am looking forward to it. Left Behind is an amazing song.
Literally nothing new here, maybe it woulda been okay in 2003. The cover of Alice Cooper's 'Poison' made me sad to be in this timeline.
Ughhh... this is just embarrassing. 90's grunge rock/punk is one of those things that shouldn't be revisited. This would just be average if released in 1994, but it's not 1994.
Excellent production, and the musicianship is on point. The writing doesn't quite do it for me in spots, but Chroma is a standout and a great song. It's a decent metalcore EP.
