If nothing else, If I Were You are an incredibly consistent band. Wither//Without picks up exactly where their last two albums left off. There may be nothing new here, but that's fine because what this band brings is solid and I suppose they see no reason to mess with a good formula.
The lyrics are kinda cringe in places, but looking past that, this offers some very creative musicianship and songwriting. The title track is sick, but the album's energy slowly trails off after that and never recovers.
This would be okay to listen to while on hold, or perhaps shopping at Zellers. It's better than what they usually play cuz it has vocals.
I've never done heroine, but from what I've read, this album is kinda that. Chill, and it's nice... but I'm nodding out. I prefer podcasts on low volume to fall asleep to, but this may work even better. I mean that in the best way - like a cozy blanket.
Where this 'Inside My Head" hits, it hits perfectly and powerfully. Some low points, tho... keep it stellar, bros.
Break out release of the year! Daedric's inaugural offering is the perfect blending of metal with electro influences on a beautifully produced album. Vocalist Kristyn Hope delivers an emotional and powerful performance throughout, creating a sound that is all her own. 'Mortal' is an absolute win!
Sick EP. Not to take anything away from the band (good writing, great musicianship and vocals, etc.), but whoever produced/engineered this deserves an award. This EP just sounds soooo thicc, I worry about the car windows as Lune's bass & drums dig in. This is how metalcore should be showcased!
This band was so on top of the game back in the day. This mediocre album is just sad. I mean, it's not terrible, it's just boring and the few sections that could've been great are left unrealized. Yo Jared!... you're too old, let go, it's over.
I've never really been into Godsmack's 1/2 time brand of radio rock, but some of these songs are alright. Did they get a new drummer or something?... I've never heard them play a standard 4/4 before. Looks good on them. Mostly the same ole, tho.
Electropop troubles with a "plastic" image, so why not just double down on it, right? I don't know if that was a good idea. I mean, if you wanna sing a song about your new tiddies, have at it, just don't expect me to care. If you get past the cringe on this album, most of the tracks are pretty good (not great, tho).
The production is spot on. The song writing is, at points, amazing. 'Hollow' would be a high point on any Bad Omens release (a compliment, to be sure). Most of this album teeters on the edge of good and great, but very current, so there's room to grow from this very solid release. Keep an eye on these guys, they have all the tools, and 'Heal' is definitely worth checking out.
I'm a sucker for upbeat rock and this could have hit all the spots. To give some credit, the vocalist is talented. Yet something is just off and it's hard to overlook... the production in some spots, weak writing in others. 'Gaslight' is an amazing song, though, absolute 10/10 writing on that one.
Spiritbox is spiritboxing again! There are some real heavy riffs here, with Cellar Door being perhaps their most brutal offering yet, while making each song its own personality (as they do). The high level of creativity and musicianship this band brings is rare. Vocalist Courtney Leplante puts the icing on the cake, of course, and brings us into her story. 'The Fear of Fear' is a welcomed return to form after their lackluster 'Rotoscope' EP, and Spiritbox is undeniably at the top of the game!
'Higher Than Heaven' is the Ellie we want. 'Like A Saviour' might be the best song she's ever done, imo, and the album is definitely her best, as well. My car windows are begging for relief!
This has all the angst and qUiRkiNeSSS of 1994. To give some credit, there are a few sections here and there that are pleasing to the ear, but it's not worth sifting through a 16 years old's poetry journal to get there.
Ugh, this is so much cringe. The cover of 'West Coast' made me want to throw a sledgehammer at my stereo. Lana Del Ray deserves an apology, along with several other artists.
Well written grooves. As a bass player, this album hits the right spots, but it's a bit low in the mix. Maybe I'm biased. Excellent musicianship, a bit meh on the vocals. All in all, a fun album even if the production is lacking a bit (not sure if for "purist" reasons or just starving musician reasons).
