Considering I gave Fine Art 100 and I think FENIAN is overall a better record, I had to also give it 100. Although there aren't any tunes as massive as Rhino Ket on here (Headcase comes close), FENIAN is much angrier, tighter, smarter, and more reflective of who the trio are and what they stand for. The title is so much better than the album deserves. Everything here is just... fine.
Yes, this album is basically Robbie cosplaying as Oasis, but it's also his best album in years. Definitely my favourite since Take the Crown and possibly even since Escapology.
Also Better Man was an incredible film and deserved so much more.
I enjoyed Sam Ryder's first album for all its bombastic, classic rock inspiration and Ryder's impressive vocals, but I do think this is an improvement in every way. Whether its due to going independent or other factors, Ryder has matured as a songwriter, and while 'Space Man' felt like a showcase of his influences, 'Heartland' feels like a demonstration of who Ryder wants to be as an artist.
